Not posted in awhile so thought I would throw out some pics. Finished mocking up the chassis and got it on wheels and tires. Put the future motor and transmission in. I finished the rough cut on the cab channel today. Got it sitting close to where I like. Still deciding on whether to chop or not. Im open to any and all advice

    Rob33,
What frame setup, and tire size are you running there? how much of a sweep in front and kick in the rear? Thanks in advance!

If you gonna chop it go no more than 4" but 1-2" and it'll look proportionally correct, meaning, "It doesn't even look chopped but doesn't look like a phone booth either". Also as a side note when chopping the rear window, you can take a portion of the chop out of the flat cab back above or below the rear window not all of it out of window itself, again making it more proportional. Don't forget to pie-cut the front of the A pillar also this is so the windshield sits on 1 plane. If not your windshield will close with a gap at the bottom.

The proportions look very similar to mine (i.e. wheelbase & channel), so to give you an idea of what a 3" chop would look like, here it is. I'd vote for a mild chop, if you're going to go fenderless. Good luck & keep up the good work.

I did a mild chop on mine, and I think that the proportions worked out well. I vote for a chop.

  13. In the process of building a 33 myself... definitely going to be following this build.

Dodored... how about a direct side picture of your truck? Would like to see it from a different angle.

  14. If it were mine I would take a little off the top but not much just to make it look a little more proportionate. Looks good so far by the way

Boling Brothers did the frame for me. 4 inch in front and 10 in rear. 750 on the rear and 550 on the front. 16 inch wheels

Thanks for imput. 2-3 inches seems to be the answer. Your trucks look right and proportionate

Here is one that I built several years ago. Its a 4" chop and a 5" channel for reference.

Cool truck, but I think I'd have to chop it.

  22. ...no chop, it's got that great cartoon look....I mean that in a good way.

  23. You can always chop it later. I'd put it together and see how I like it.

32s had recessed firewall exactly like all the cars had. The 34 cab has the extra beltline with the extended firewall. This is a 33 cab.

Had the day off so decided to try my hand at chopping the project. Never done it before but studied all the material I could find. Not bad for first time. Just have it mocked up for now.
