    Hey all,

I recently replaced a R*t R*d friendly Lokar shifter with a single bend one and realized that it won't clear a bench seat I wanted to put in eventually. So beside the obvious solution of changing the shifter again, I thought I'd pose this question: What buckets, if any would be correct for a late 50's style? Pics if you would be so kind...

Think of 50's cars... any of them that had buckets were in rods, i just read a magizine artical on how to chop and upholster shopping carts into buckets seats even!!

Yeah it's pretty much anything goes for seats these days.

I was thinking 'Vette, but my whole theme is what a young cat maybe high school or recent grad would have access/money for.

Buckets from a little Alfa work too...I've seen quite a few in roadsters done in the 60s.

Late 50s Studebakers had buckets in them, I've seen those used. Late 50s Thunderbird would work nicely as well

  12. Euro-imports especially English cars were popular, MGs, Jags, triumphs. Seats out of delivery vans or box trucks got used as well but what you are going to want in a small car like say an A coupe is going to be out of a sports car.

Check out Thunderbird seats. 1958-1960 Squarebird seats might look good in your car.

The ultimate bucket seats from '59-'61 G.M. cars especially Cadillac !

You might find a rough set for $ 4,000 !

    Good Luck,

How about one of these? The one on fire is out of a 38 Chevy truck, the bottom bench is to parts and you can cut the back bench down to fit.

The others are random idea photos from somewhere or another.

Wow thanks for all the great info folks! I forgot to mention that this is for my F1, so size isn't as critical. I'm planning on going Kustom with this one. Keep 'em coming please!

One thing that they forgot is that the tri 5 Chevy guys notched their bench seats to clear the floor shifters before Hurst and others started making offset shift handles.

It isn't the easiest thing to do but it's an option.

'64 Chrysler seats look almost just like those and are way, way cheaper, but if it's gotta be period correct I'll jump on the Squarebird seat bandwagon. I have some in my '53 Ford car, the rounded top really makes them look 50's custom style.

    x2 what Mr48chev said....

I notched a bench seat for an '82 C10 and it end up very nice. I was able to keep the bench seat which was in great shape and a comfortable ride.

    Regards,

  27. How do you guys think these JAZ seats would look, in tuck 'n roll, of course . . .
Are they correct enough? I think they could p*** for laundromat seats.

Those scream modern-catalog-purchase to me. Even if you recover them, I'm not a fan.

These are in my truck ... from a 67-87 (maybe) C-10, Blazer, Suburban. They really don't smack of any particular time period. And you can pad them up or down to help you fit in your ride.
