Projects Someone Please tell me how to remove a 59 Chevy dash.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldfart, Dec 7, 2011.

  1. I see that there is a bolt on each end but the dash appears to be welded the rest of the way.I don't have a welder but I do have a sawzall.
How do I remove the dash w/out ruining it?

drill the spot welds along the pinchweld at the windshield opening.

  3. Do what squirrel said or if the car is junk and you just want the dash, pull out the windshield and cut along the window channel with a zip cut and/or sawzall. Then you can clean the dash up when you get it on the floor!

x2 on this but once you cut it out depending on what car you are puttiing it in you will need a welder.I just put one in my 50 chevy pickup lots of cutting and welding

Yea it's a pain in the but with the gl*** in... I torched one out last summer. Took me an hour and a half to get it out, it was in a car that didn't have a windshield, frame, or front clip so it was easy to get to!

Oh keep the garnish with it too just in case, and the wraparounds on the A pillars!

  8. I've pulled a bunch of them. I just use a small bar and work it loose around each weld. They come out every time. I have sold atleast 20 of them and have four more I need to go pull now that the snakes are asleep for the year...lol
