I just picked this up last Saturday. I am trying to post some pictures. If they post I thought you folks might enjoy seeing this. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=30447
I will check the plug wire routing and should be able to tell. I really think it is standard rotation because the previous owner said his dad installed an Isky 550 roller when he built the motor way back when. The motor is wired up to run on its stand, so a few spins of the starter should also give an indication. I don't know if isky ground reverse rotation cams or not, but may well have. The motor has a local history and I am pursuing more info. The motor is from a V-drive set up that ran from the front of the crank
99% chance it will be standard rotation. Only reason to make it counter rotating would be if it were used in a twin engine setup and that motor wouldn't have been used that way probably. If there are other reasons for making it counter rotating I am not aware of them though. Very cool looking motor with lots of unique old parts on it, great score. Don
The motor came out of a semi flat bottom runabout cl*** racer. It was about 17 or 18 ft. There were a lot of boat racers around here in the 50's and 60's. I actually saw this boat run way back when. The hull is lying on its old trailer in the woods upside down. It may have some items of interest still on it. There was to much poison Ivy for me to get under there to check it out at this time. I do have a shot of the boat in its hey day with zoomie type headers in front of Jakes Speed Equipment here in New Orleans. It had Jakes logo painted on the hull. Jake often helped local racers of all types with a bit of parts sponsorship.
