This would be my first project.
"1936 Ford Slant Back tudor sedan, body has very little rust, floor pan has been cut out to fit on S-10 frame which is there, comes with dash and hood, lots of chev parts and auto. ******"
I can pick it up close to where I live. Seems like a reasonable price on it. Some where to start.
Anyone got any warnings for me?

    nothin?
    ok,
    Introduction,
    I'm from BC Canada.
I do marine engineering here on the coast. I can manage the 12 and 24v, and have experience with large diesels, reduction gears, generators etc.
Just bought a house got a nice bug garage and need a project other than freakin' boats.
I have a few option for places to look around here but my travel time is limited. I'm liking the lines of the 36' slant back ford thinking I could have the bad boy rollin in 6-8 months. Rat rod style no polish loud and proud. would that be totally unrealistic or do you say giver?

    Here ya go.

Don't mention, discuss or show anything to do with rat rods on this site.
    You will get crucified.

Traditional rods are what it's about.

Have you bought it yet? If not, I'd find one with a floor in it and an original frame.
If you have made the purchase, put an original frame under it and redo the floors... Not sayin' you can't have a down and dirty HOT ROD, but S-10 frames aren't the way to go and here's why:
    1. Resale value. You put the car on an S-10 frame and it's only going to be worth 6k.
If you were to put it on an original frame with a dropped axle and traditional stuff, it'll be worth more like 15-20k even if it's flat black with red wheels.
    2. Cool factor. Old Ford stuff is cooler by far. (and easily interchangable)
    3. If you take your time and do some scrounging, you can find a street rodder who wants to ditch an entire original frame and running gear for a grand or less... put juice brakes on it from a '39 and newer ford and you're ready to go.
    4. You can't put a flathead in an S-10 frame.
    5. You'll end up with a hodge-podge of new car parts with an old body... you want to have an old car, right? Get the whole experience with old Ford stuff.

That being said, I really hope you take the advice... it looks like a decent body to start out with- a lot of those cars have missing floors... you're going to have to put a floor in it anyways... maybe find a hatched out 4 door sedan with a decent floor and just cut out the floors- subframe and all. I started out with just a body and I went with an original frame and I'm very glad I did! Again- we're all here to experience what it was like to drive an old hot rod... If you want an S-10 go buy one.
