It won't be an old Jeep 40s-60s because those were 5 lugs.

They must be talking semi modern and modern, maybe Cherokee? I'd look at some Jeep wheels on ebay to see what years are 6 lugs.

Wagoneers in the 60s-70s had 6 lug wheels.

I put a 57 Chevy rear end in my 41 Sedan last year and, like you, I wanted to keep the stock 6 lug x 5.5 bolt pattern so I could run the stock wheels. Then I found a set of aluminum slotted 6 lug, 15 x 7 on 5.5 bolt circle wheels from a fella here on the HAMB. In order to use the 6 lug wheels, I had to buy custom axles from Moser. If you want to see the details of the install, check my blog. Btw, the axles set me back about $340 with shipping.

Either to match the stock front hubs or to run the wheels he has already tied a bunch of money up in.

El Pachuco, Some of the Japanese pickups ran 6 lug wheels but I am not sure exactly which ones. those might be a bit narrow though.

My Colorado pickup has six lugs and might be the right width to work for you. Should be easy to find by now.

What blue49 said!! I have a 41 Chevy coupe also and just bought a 2008 colorado rear axle. It has the correct 6 lug pattern, is 60 1/2 inches wide (stock chevy is 60) and only has 29K miles on it. Cost me $370 with tax. Looks like new also. And its a Chevy! :)
The gear ratio is 3.73 so with the T5 I am planning should be great on the highway. The only thing you would need to do is move the spring perches out since they are at 42 1/4 where the stock is 47 1/4.

I forgot 1 thing. You will need to buy 1/4" spacers to push the wheel out a little because the center "boss" on the axle is 4" where as the center wheel opening is 3 5/8. I got a pair from egay for about $13 shipped to my door in 3 days. Works great.

  11. Perhaps I can shed some light on the subject of 6 bolt rear ends. You see I have 3x 41-46 Chevy trucks. I use ISUZU suv parts. Little known secret, Isuzu used DANA 44 rear ends in most of their Rodeo 4x4. Along with the Dana 44 comes Kelsey Hayes Disc Brakes, and ****er U-joints, MADE IN THE USA. I purchased the last wrecked Honda P***port (just a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo) for $200.00. The gear ratios are either 4.10 and 4.30's, and are about right for an overdrive. Not sure what stock 1941 Chevy hub face to hub face measurement is, but this 96 Isuzu measures in at under 60".
Dana 44's are what Corvette, Jeep, and a ton of others used, so parts and pieces are readily available.
I did have to enlarge the center holes of a pair of 15x8 Blazer wheels to fit. I did use the old 16" wheels off of a 53 Chevy for a while. You will just have to check your wheels to see if they clear. I've had no problems with this combination.
