Ah ha. Sorry. Missed the point of what you wrote. I have to say I like it a WHOLE lot better in the earlier version. That's a very deep dropped axle for those days too.

Thanks deadbeat, I share your enthusiasm for the BOBCAT. The car goes to a whole other level with the wheels turning- it really comes to life- very exciting to see it on the street.
I really like how it's been cleaned up- although I find the rear deck a little fussy 'round the # plate, and a little sp**** for detail around the tailights. Apart from those minor details, I think it's just about perfect as is. Stylewise, I think it is probably the best - ever Holden, bar maybe the Hurricane & GTX..[/QUOTE]

For me,imo,it looks great & seeing it out about is truly amazing. After all as a Kustom car from back in the day & a survivour says heaps.Better than that Effijy (spl?)that Holden did a few years back, again imo.
I didnt even recognise that 35 that every one has their "knickers" in a twist over from the earlier pics.I have that mag from then & as a kid used loved that car. Those were the days when Aussie rods werent goverened by the rules & regs that it has today, they still had style. To see it now may not be everyones "cuppa"but its still on the road & still being enjoyed.

Thanks for this pic. I've been thinking about cutting down a 36 ford truck grill to similar proportions for my boattail.

  8. ^- Looks good, like a cut down '35 V8 grille? '36 would be good too. Good looking car.

    • Yeh deadbeat, it's not the prettiest combo, but heaps of cars ran HR/G Front / parralel leafs. I remember it in Banksia Park , in a HK Premier-like metallic blue, Y-Block I think it was.

The Bobcat- I wonder if it goes as good as it looks? Norman blower?
It sure looks superb, not fat like all the Mercs etc. Looks like a good knife!
Some humpies could really cook on a twisty road. Some fell over too- regretfully, often in the hands of the kids.

I think the reason why everyone ran with those frontends was because of avaliablity. You still see them on cars today but usually with full fenders and isnt that what our hobby is all about, using what you can get your hands on.People get all rapt up in the fact that your car has to look like,,whatever,,to be traditional.

Sorry Spoogie, didnt mean to hijack your thread

  10. What the **** happened to the rear of the Bobcat? That new rear styling looks ****ing retarded.

  13. Love it or hate it the duck bum has been removed as well

    I loved it , real 60's styling

it's a shame when guys rebuild old rods they want to restore them

    but it still looks great

and a credit to the owner thats it's still on the SA scene

  14. - I agree, I love seeing it about. Thanks for posting the excellent driveway picture, it's so nostalgic..

I rushed around the show, clicking photos intuitively- from the hip. This year I wasn't accosted for being a cop photographer- maybe I look odd, taking shots on my knees, of little things like rod ends and hair- pins. Maybe I'm rude. But it helps my artwork.

    This Port Roadsters one intrigues me- how does this work? Does the top always stay up, like a 'sport sedan'?;

I didn't go this year but when I do I always take those interesting detail pics as well but with things the way they are now I'd be fearing a black eye! ...
    Cheers

Thanx for the pix bro, love the Utes. I wish they would have done these in the U.S. Looks like a great gr***y and shady grounds for the event, not to mention a beautiful day. Always nice to have a blast from you bro's. ~sololobo~

  22. Gday Tony Travers- No, I'm sober- it's my 'new black', y'know.
I agree on the detail photo's. I fear I'm rude, clambering around in the gr***, with no permission, taking photos. Being tall, wearing an Arkubra, and being excited (enthusiastic) in body language probably dose'nt help. Kinda like Kramer or papparazzi photo'ing your car! The cats that took me to task a few years ago were not happy. I felt obliged to explain myself. I thought they were paranoid at the time.
I think I could back off with this photo style. Too rude. I saw a fella take 4 or 5 close ups of the painting which won the art comp, and I thought 'hey, that's my painting dude, coulda asked..'
So it's probably more polite to arrange a formal photo sessions if your that 'into it'..

Thanks Sololobo- Yes, good size, beautiful place. Your wagon would be a hit here- lot of MOPAR fans here- Hey Charger!
