Mac' Antique auto parts ???????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tigger!, Oct 24, 2011.

  1. I've been dealing with Mac's for many years and have never had a problem. Now Sacramento Vintage Ford is another story . . .

  2. Sure they had the 1932 windshield pivot screws/nuts I needed, but no neon kits or faux bullet hole stickers!

I've ordered a fair amount from them over the last 5-6 years and always had a good experience. Shipping will kill you anywhere from anybody-it's just a sign of the times, I guess. Fortunately, Mac's will bring my orders to Carlisle, York or Hershey for free and I save a bunch on things like bumpers and a cowl band-light but funky to ship.

FWIW, I have had good experiences with Bratton's, too.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from Mac's over the years, the selection is great, only complant was slow shipping. I quit using them in the last year unless they are the only source. Ordered interior kits for 2 trucks, a 63 and a 54 F-100. Both kits were very poor, seat covers not even close to fitting nor the right "original" material or style. Same with the carpet kit for my 57 Ranchero. Ordered all the window rubbers and taillights (all Vintique) for my 40, pure junk, couldn't use them. Yeah, they will refund the purchase price if you return the stuff but not the shipping either way. When I complained all they could tell me is sorry, we have no control over the quality of our products sourced from outside venders. Gee, I'm afraid they do have all the control, they don't have to buy that junk, nor do the have to sell it to us!

I only wish they would state the country of origin on ALL their parts in the catalog. I've ordered multiples of the same part in the past, and have got all different countries of manufacture on the packages. Their service is great.

Mac's is my primary source. Generally I have had good luck with them. I have no problems with their service but I believe they lack quality control in some areas. I've received several broken & incorrect parts. Broken mirrors, cracked S/M and torn rubber products. Their rubber parts tend to crack and get very brittle within 18 months.

Customer service is always great and promptly accept returns (On my Dime of course) They have made some catalog corrections because of these mistakes. Overall a good company and a good source of products.

Their great until you have a problem. NO customer service! They sent my parts to someone else. Had to wait a week for them to send the other guy a mailing label. I asked if they could at least make it two day shipping. Nope.... Treated me like I messed up the order. I spent a lot of $$$ with them too. They should have repacked my order that day and sent. I canceled and will never spend my money with the again. Snyders is top notch, and really fast with shipping.

I've dealt with Mac's for more than 25 years. I've gotten parts through the mail and driven over to pick them up (about 1-hour drive) and have never had any major problems. Any minor problemss that have arisen (and they were few & far between) were always addressed & resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. Two thumbs up to a great vendor!

I bought a lot of stuff from them with only one problem and that was an order falling thru the cracks (or something). After a week or so not hearing anything about my order, I called and found that it was still sitting there. They got it right out and didn't charge any shipping for it cause it took so long. So I have no problems with their "Customer Service".

  16. DITTO==:) And then when they didn't have the 1948 Ford gas tank I was looking for (they do list them too ) they referred me to TANKS, INC !!! Now that's a company that strives to help you in any way they can .
    They are great.

Great catalog but serious credibility problem if you get a broad taking your order. Must pay extra for them to ship within 24 hrs. Gouge you on shipping;I request USPS on small items and they pad that too. Last source, good luck with Snyders.

Our experiences with Mac's has been aces. I'd hate to think what re-building these early Fords would have been like without them. Damn, I shoulda remembered them at Thanksgiving.

I order alot from them, I like them alot beter than dennis carpenter, but like all parts places not all of their parts are right. Ordered a 56 ford temp gauge, 1/8' to big to fit in housing, and a wincdow regulator for a 56 tbird. Mounting plate was about twice the size... When the parts say made in taiwan, china, etc, here is what i think... Confuscious say, man who drive '56 rickshaw know not about '56 tbird. They real easy to work with though. I recommend... **** Spadarro is even beter but limited parts...
