Can vintage magnesium wheels be trusted on the strip.

Any type of magnesium wheel is unsafe! Especially the 16x10 or 11 ET or five spoke american type. Be safe and sure. Send them to me, I will send you some money and be sure they are disposed of properly.

VROD64. Did you say you don't need a roll bar with an 11 sec. car? I thought 12.00 you didn't and 11.99 you did. Correct me if Im wrong. I thought you were required to have a roll bar installed if you ran any 11's.

No that was me that said you don't have to have a roll bar in an 11 second car. They may have changed the rules in the last couple of years but my last 11 second car didn't get me kicked off the track until I broke 10.

 

I have made dozens of 9 second p***es on magnesium wheels.

I have worked on many old Magnesium wheels in my 30 plus years of selling and repairing vintage aluminum or magnesium wheels. Here are some LeMans wheels like yours. They only come 15x4" and 15x6" 5 lug patterns. terry@torquethrustcentral.com

 

Iv seen a pair that were spindle mount …. centers had races - no lug holes but same basic casting

 

Rule change it is now 11.49 for roll bar.
