Hello, I am getting ready to build a 1951 Crosley wagon street rod, looking for help on the front end, I am thinking of using a new mustang II set up , my problem is i'am not sure if it can be sized down to approx 44'" out to out of the front tires, I am not sure if it is narrowed that much if i will have a problem finding a rack and pinion set up that will work, if anyone has any thing to offer in the way of suggestions I would appreciate the help Thanks Neal
Fatman fabrication has one 11" narrower Dropped Straight axle can be narrowed also some guys with anglias use opel front ends just a couple of thoughts
the Opel GT as mentioned and maybe an MG as well. I saw an MG in an austin once, looked good. One thing to consider with the MII is that when you start to narrow it that much you take away room for the engine to sit down in the frame forcing you to have to move it further back into the car. Welder Series is another choice for MII info. I found them more personable and willing to discuss projects than the "big" players for front end fab questions. They are a member here as well. Really cool folks.
Hi Neal I just posted a Dear Welder Series question that might be useful to you: https://www.welderseries.com/blog/2011/10/28/dear-welder-series-1960-morris-minor-mustang-ii/ Maval would be the ones to talk to about a custom rack; Brandon Kirby Maval Manufacturing 800-338-9080 ext. 249 www.unisteer.com Hope this helps. dw </pre>
