I remember my cousin in Modesto CA ( home of the movie American Graffiti) knitting some for her boyfriend . The really cool ones were made from Angora wool , super fuzzy !

our car has a small "mini" pair of dice hanging from the mirror. one black, one white. theyre tiny, not distracting like the big ones, and mom found them for us so we can't, not hang them in the car :)

Actually they were invented at a California old folks home in 1942.

You know how loud noise's bother senior citizens and they start to get poor eyesight, can't see the small dots.

It was for the annual casino nite at the home.

  11. From what I understand it meant that you are taken. You were supposed to get them from your girlfriend.

Missus '****** just took lipstick and wrote on the mirror in the girls bathroom, don't mess with B...., he's mine.

That is the truth. Not that it made any difference no one was really interested in me anyway. To this day I don't know how a lame ***ed jerk like myself ended up with the prettiest girl in the school.

I remember in the 50s before the fuzzy dice, when you had a car, your girl knitted miniture argile socks with the same colors as your car. Then regular knit dice, and angora dice. After that it was any thing goes.

  16. I have been trying to get a handle on this, maybe it is just that i have a bad at***ude about life. When did hot rodding become about if someone else likes you stuff? Its never been about that for anyone I ever hung out with.

Thats really funny...my grandmother liked to crochett (sp?) and knit and she made a small pair of socks connected together by the yarn strand (like the dice). they are light yellow and they still hang from the mirror in my grandfather's pick-up. My grandma p***ed away 4 years ago now and life hasnt been the same since.

Come on ****** ~ You know that's not entirely true. Hot rodders ALWAYS looked for acceptance from their immediate peers. You wanted your buddies to tell you how cool your latest addition was, and even for them to be a bit jealous. Everyone does, it's human nature :D

Funny stuff.... I used to go up to the Framingham Ma. area to see a friend in the 80s. He had this ****py 66 Buick Wildcat that he drove, and told me a story about a guy who cruised late at night with a Big hood-scooped blue nova that looked like a race car. He'd never stop anywhere so nobody could ever get a good look at the car. He'd pull up to you at stoplights and act like he wanted to run, trying to intimidate people with the look of the car. We went out that night and found him, beating him badly with the bashed-out Buick. Turns out my buddy had found where he lived and looked over the car in the daytime. It had a 10 pt rollbar completely made out of PVC, a Quadrajet iron-intake/exhaust smallblock, and ladder bars that were just wired up under the car, and that was just for starters. We stopped afterwards, and when he idled by my buddy tossed a can of PVC glue in front of him so he could see what it was. Funny ****.

Yes, our prerequisite Radio station sticker was WBCN. I still have a pile of 'em somewhere.

I bought a 1950 license plate from an ol boy last summer and he said anyone that buys a plate gets free flamed dice. I gave them to my 1 year old grandson, he loves them. You don't think I have scarred him for life do you?

By the late 50s/early 60s I never saw any fuzzy dice. The occasional shrunken head, yes. More common was her cl*** ring on a chain [yours she wore on a chain], also one of her chiffon scarves tied around the mirror post was not uncommon, and of course the ubiquitous graduation t***el.

... I have the patterns for genuine 50's era hand knit angora dice.

First three guys or gals who email me with their address, I'll send em out a copy.

    Below, a pic circa 1956.
A pair of red & white dice along with that ever elusive accessory, a mirror muff.
The muff, not seen much today, but it was a popular add-on back in the day....[/QUOTE]

I was lucky enough to receive a pattern from C9 at a different time. Had it for years and finally had a set made by one of my nieces. World of difference from the made in china ones. I ran a pair of those for awhile as my daughter gifted me a set and then years later my grand daughter did the same. Not too cool to hurt a little girls feelings.

Pick any hundred high school girls from anywhere. I wonder what percentage would even know what to do with a ball of yarn and a pair of knitting needles. I think girls were mo-betta back in the day.;)

Where the he'll did that story come from? Crazy homo. Sounds funny and would be even funnier to see.

  28. I can't say for certain, cause I wasn't around back then, but I do agree. It's getting tough to find girls with looks, brains and the ambition to have some fun other than getting intoxicated every night.
They also don't seem to appreciate good cars any more.

  29. Always had ****ING FUZZY DICE as you call them in every hot rod and custom I have owned since 1960. Had a RAT FINK in one way or another since then also. You guys just can't get it can you:confused:

Why do you want everybody to like only what you think is cool:confused::confused:

These two photos should piss you off:eek:
