After searching for answers to problems via google or yahoo I always end up here so thought I'd go ahead and register.

I live in Oceanside Ca and recently traded my 61 Chevy C10 for a 65 Chevy II. I got the car with the story all it would need is the shift linkage put on, a battery, and set timing. I got $3k on top of the trade cause I really didn't know what shape the car would be in. I needed a backseat though since my family of 5 wasn't exactly able to fit in the standard cab truck.

This was my truck. I put a lot of work into this thing. Mostly because there was no aftermarket for it. The front crossmember was from a 85 Chevy C10, full air ride suspension, little 305, 700r4 ****** with electronic overdrive, rewired, and much more that I can't think of. It would do 80mph at 2200 rpm on the freeway. Great truck that I will really miss.

Here's the Chevy II, 283 SBC with Holley 670 carb, 4 speed Saginaw ******. I'm nit picky so I've pulled the heads verified that everything was good. Replaced the 750 carb with the 670 electric choke, ****** getting rebuilt or just getting another one (whichever is cheaper), new driveshaft, new starter, new exhaust, new shift linkage, and rewired it. Still have the rear end and brakes before I feel comfortable taking the kids in it but it's getting there, I have a lot more in store for this car though. My Dad said that if you want to know that it's done right then you have to do it yourself. I have some ****** questions that I'll post in a different topic once I can get some pictures but for now here's she is.

That truck is sick!! Love the color scheme.

  3. Welcome to the HAMB. You'll find it very useful. I like the Chevy II but i would have kept the Truck. But that's my 2 Cents.

    Thanks!!

If I could've I would've. It went to a friend so at least it's in good hands. I don't plan on keeping the II for too long though. I want to own/build/destroy/cut up/blow up as many cool rides as I can before I kick the bucket!!
$150? For some reason I am guessing I wasn't born or even thought of around that time... There's still tons of rusty gold laying around in people yards out here from back then too!!

Welcome, I really dig the '61. I've always liked the '60-1 Chevy trucks, came close to buying one a few years ago.. Cool drivetrain in the Chevy II, it's good to see you got a 4spd in there.
