It's a 1/2 ton model too, I'd buy it if it was close to me! I want to restore one of those late 30's Ford trucks.
Its a '39... no floating vertical grill bar, stream line hood release. Grill don't look too bad compared to most
nice find..i have been working on my 39 that was a flatbed 1 1/2 ton .. it is on a 4x4 frame right now with a 400 pontiac engine, but am going to go a street rod style with it now... i have a old hemi for it, gonna build it without the front end just a 46 white radiator shell and grille.. i guess i will be selling the old fenders, hood and grille to pay for some of the planned project....but i could use the door hinges offa that truck..
x2 on identifying it as a '39 Ford. Other differences besides the grille and hood handle: '38 has mechanical brakes, '39 has hydraulic. '38 has square ashtray in center of dash, '39 ashtray (if it has one) is an accessory that fastens to the bottom lip of the dash. '38 windshield regulator has a handle that is just above the ridge of the upper dash panel, '39 has a round knob up on top of the dash. '38 inside door panels are the same fiberboard material as the headliner and are usually long gone; '39 has stamped sheet metal inside door panels. Everything else is pretty much the same for both years. Sometimes vehicles got wrecked and repaired with used parts, so it's not unusual to find a '38 with a '39 grille and hood or vice versa. So look at the other differences to be sure on the model year.
