I'm looking for a right rear fender for my 1939 Dodge D-11 4dr (see my thread in "parts wanted") and I've called a LOT of wrecking yards without success. Seems like some of you folks are early MOPAR guys and might have had some past success locating parts, so if you wouldn't mind sharing some contacts I'd really appreciate it. Please let me know if you've found yards out there with lots of old MOPAR parts. Thanks <!-- / message --><!-- controls -->
Seeing how you're in Washougal, you probably already talked to Wildcat Auto Wrecking in Sandy,OR, but just in case...http://www.wildcatmopars.com/. They are more into the 50's-70's stuff but they are into Mopar big time and might have a lead for you.
Yep, called them a couple weeks back as they're the local "go to" guys for old MOPAR stuff, and you're right, they don't have anything that old. They gave me Moore's and Vintage Auto in Idaho. No luck either place (Moores has 4 Dodges, 4 Chryslers and one Desoto, NONE of which has a useable RR fender!). Thanks for the suggestion.
There are some guys with a yard between you and Goldendale that seem to always be advertising old stuff and saying that they have a lot of old stuff. I used to see their adds on Craigslist but haven't seen one lately.
Try Dave Stromberg here in Vancouver WA. He's just north of the mall at 5 corners if you know where that is. (360)260-0434 He goes by Fat fendered relics or bufstuf on ebay. If you call him it sometimes takes a couple of tries, but he will get back to you. If not PM me and I will roust him for you. 41plym
RCFLYER, When I was restoring my 39 Dodge D-11S some yrs back, I found a wrecking yard that had a few 39 Dodges. Turner's Auto Wreckers Fresno Ca. 559-237-0918 And Weimar Auto Wreckers 530-637-5524. There was another larger wreckers in Fresno Whites Auto Dismantalers. I think they have closed their doors. I also parted out a D-11 I have all four fenders, trunk, both front doors. But I am keeping them just in case something should happen to my car. Good luck and I hope this helps you find a fender. One more. Don's Antique Auto Parts 510-792-4390
Yep, "Howards Wrecking Yard" in Underwood, WA. Talked to him last week and he doesn't have anything. He's actually closed for the winter (opens again March 1st) but he still takes calls and he knows his inventory really well. They have about 1,300 cars but he doesn't advertize on the web so he's hard to locate. His phone is 509-493-2814 if anyone can use it.
Talked to Moore's a couple times. They have 4 1939 Dodges, 4 1939 Chryslers and one 1939 DeSoto (not on thier site) and NONE of them have a useable RR fender! I was shocked when they told me that: 0 for 9!
I talke to Dave - had him make me a trim pice for the cowl last summer - and he didn't have anything, but he gave me a lead in Vancouver. WA for another gentleman. Called that guy and he didn't have a fender, but he does have bumpers, a deck lid and other misc. pieces, none of which are on my "needs list", but if anyone else out there has a need send me a PM and I'll forward the phone number.
I've talked to PLYDO in the past and they have a lot of cool stuff, but no fender. BTW - I love your Franklin quote! I've added "and don't trust any beer you can see through"....
FOUND A FENDER at Turners Auto Wrecking in Fresno, CA. Some surface rust, one small crack by the bumper support opening, one small crack at the bottom edge under the ribs - LOOKS GREAT!! Good folks to talk to, great price, reasonable shipping, so all-in-all a great transaction. Thanks for all the help guys, especially "RISKYBIZ", couldn't have done it without all your input! Merry Chrstmas and Happy New Year to everyone - it's going to be a happier New Year around here!! Bob
