I know that out there somewhere there is a 60 Edsel two door stationwagon. I just hope I don't have to give up any body parts for it..If it was the wagon or a convertible I would consider a body part that I have two of...

Sorry about that. Yep only Edsels. I was there Last Tues and found him still as difficult to buy from as he was 13 years ago. Seems as though every part I wanted was for a project he was going to do. Had to laugh about a 4dr he has. He wanted me to buy the whole car back in 94 instead of parts. Well 13 years later it's still sitting in the same spot and still had all the parts. Hey I almost came down to Lisbon but decide not to as I went up and along the top of N.D. then up into Manitoba , down into Mn and thru Wi. and the U.P.

  6. Actually, according to the Ford book I have, there was no such animal in '60. "The 1960 Villiager came only in four-door styles, with a choice of six or nine p***enger seating configurations" ....

But there's certainly no reason you can't build one using a Ford Ranch Wagon body and doors.

Speaking of which, it may be faster and cheaper to clone a convertible, too. According to this book, the production was a whopping total of 76. And I've talked to a guy who's turned down examples as being too rough, he wants one too. I didn't realize 1960 production was so low, looks like a total of less than 3000 for all body styles.

Edsels are funny cars... after bombing so disasterously in 58, you knew they wanted to kill it off in 60 when they went with a grille that looked like a copy of last year's Pontiac.

There was a rough 60 Ford 2dr wagon on Ebay a week or so ago. All you'd need is the 60 Edsel front clip. We had a guy around here that am***ed a hell of a collection of Edsel's of every shape and condition, including a nice original 60 convertible. I don't know if he's still around or not.

I never noticed how much a 60 Edsel's grill looks like a 59 Pontiac before.

I need one. I used to know where one was in a junkyard.....

there was a 60 2 door on ebay about 2 months ago it was in Michigan and sold for around 3500 and it was clean as hell. it was a barn find of sorts if i remember right.... but the catch is it wwasnt a wagon. but before that i had never seen a 60 edsel i think it has the starliner beat hands down in the looks dept. and the starliner is a beautifull car.

I have a 60 Edsel 2 door hardtop. It's in the shop and blown apart for paint and body work. I hope to have it on the road by next spring. It's gonna get lowered, a tuck and roll, flaked on the roof and Astros w/ skinny whites. I was looking for a Starliner and found this car instead. I normally don't like the Edsels (ugly horsecollar grilles), and was reluctant to go and look at this one until I was told it looks alot like a Satrliner. When I saw it I fell in love. The wagon is even rarer than the 2 door hardtop. Good luck finding one.

I would like to use the Edsel front clip on my 59 Ford. Which 59 Edsel model fits the 59 Ford?

    They didn't make a 59 or 60 Edsel 2dr wagon.
That was a 58 only model.

Any 59 Edsel front clip would bolt onto any 59 Ford.

I am not very knowledgeable about Edsels but I dont think thats right. I looked closely at a 59 Edsel and took photos. When I got home and compared the photos to my 59 Ford, it was certain not to fit. The ends of the front fenders near the doors and the way the hood fits to the cowl appear to be different.

I admit thats its entirely possible that the Edsel I photo'd may not have been a 59..
    Does anyone know for sure?

My understanding is that Ford wanted to end with the '59 model but due to dealer commitments (remember, Edsel was it's own line) they had to make enough '60s to fulfill them. Then they axed it, not too long into the '60 model year. Hence the quick hack-job on the '60 Ford.

I'm not sure that's the case. Two of the Edsel models were based on the Ford platform, the two higher priced models on the Lincoln platform. These were the ones with the 430 engines, etc.

The Mercury based ones (Corsair and Citation) were 1958 only and all of the 59's were Ford based. The 430 was also 1958 only.

I'll take you at your word then. I actually owned a '59 wagon not so many years ago that was very solid and a good driver. I just never could get real interested in it though. Obviously the Edsel facts I learned during my ownership have become a bit fuzzy since then. Thanks for the correction.
For anyone who's interested, there's a major Edsel nut not too far from me. He also has a lot of mid 50s to early 60s Fords and Mercurys too. I haven't been down to see him in a few years since I sold the last of my '58 Fords, but I'd guess he has well over a hundred of these types of cars. His favorites are the Edsels, '58 Fords and Merc Turnpike Cruisers. He's a bit quirky (imagine that!) :D but does buy and sell cars and parts. If anyone's needs anything, PM me and I'll find his contact info.

As posted earlier in this thread, the only year that Edsel produced a 2 dr wagon was in 1958 and it was called a Roundup.

I know the 60 Edsel 2 door wagon in Wisconsin. it was made from a 2 door 60 Ford Ranchwagon and a 60 Edsel 4 door wagon. It looks 100% stock and is white with a blue roof. Over the years I have owned many 60 Edsels. currently I have two, a Alaskan gold & white 4 door hardtop and a seafoam green 6 p***enger stationwagon that I rescued from a wrecking yard last month.:)

Only 1958 had Edsel offering a 2 door Roundup wagon. I have a 58 Roundup.

The 1960 Edsel 2 door wagon is an impeccable "what if the factory would have built it" machine. The owner and builder is Dave Hooten of Wisconson.

Dave"s "what if" car is based on the Ford 2 door wagon of that year.

Better pics are at this link

  29. There is a build thread on here about a tan colored 60 Edsel and a cool guy I talked to the other day from Central Cali named Jo, president of the Hoods C.C. has a tan one that looks just like it. I love those 60 Edsels
