Here's mine... I try to do a little something different every year. I added LED lights above the door this year since those "very traditional" C9's use a LOT of electricity. I made the wreath around the Texaco sign out of sprinkler piping and wrapped it in lights and garland. Everything is on a timer, so once I install it, it turns itself on & off every day and people don't know if I'm home or not. My elderly neighbor loves the "old timey garage" look the other 11 months of the year, and really likes the red and green bulbs in the gas pump during the holidays. Found the Ferrari on someone's curb one summer, and the big bear on someone else's curb and added the Santa hat. The deer was also a "curb find" a week or so after Christmas a few years ago, and I made it a Blues Brothers deer just to bug people.
Next year if all goes well I'll finally have a garage to call my own to do a tree in. I have every hallmark ornament from their cl***ic car series. So the plan is to hit a couple good junkyards and get every cool emblem i can get my hands on to hang....a nice big V or V8 emblem for the "star", hubcap to cover the stand, slot car track for the train and finally some good speed part underneath with bows. Gonna be the best tree ever!
Gary did you go to one of those Martha Stewart decorating courses? Too funny man. Merry Christmas to you.
And to all you guys. Truth be told, I liberated that photo a few years back from the web. When I saw it I couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes! Gary Here are a couple more I lifted from sites for a chuckle, though not about shop decorations, that might provide some inspiration for your displays. Gary
Cool stuff Gary.... I like the one with the pumpkin trying to snap a log... Hahahaha.. It kinda makes you think twice about eating pumpkin pie..
Thanks!!! You guys are awesome! I'm laughing out loud here at work and all of my co-workers think that I'm crazy. (Well, they do the other 11 months a year anyway!) I wish that I could bring a camera in to work... (I work for a defense contractor and they frown on cameras around our work for some unknown reason. Bunch of grinches, I say... ) I work in a department where they lay out the wireways for the thousands of cables that go throughout the ship. We had some extra wireway hangers and installed flashing rope lights through them and laid out a nice looking wireway run across a spare desk in our cubicle complete with stuffing tubes, MCT's, BIG terminal blocks... It's been a big hit so far. Somewhere else on the HAMB I saw a Chevy Monza funny car body and a (Chrondek style) Christmas tree in a guy's front yard for Christmas. Keep up the good work guys!!! Merry Christmas to all of you!!!
Mine is already covered in ****, but i am going to add some more to make it feel festive. I'm thinking a dis***embled steering system.
