I brought this galaxie in 2006 in San diego, the seller did not know much about the car, i tried to contact his friend who was the P.O and it never worked out. The car is a original 289 / cruiso XL, the p.o put a fuel cell in trunk, flame throwers, lake pipes and sprayed it with a flat black rattle can, drilled through the a-pillar trim and put in dummy spots : It had this skull plate on the front : Someone had removed the rear trim and replaced it with these studs. : There are many specific things that were done to this car, and i thought the HAMB has got so big now that someone might recognize it. The engine has had some work done to it - new intake, had some headers and it runs pretty strong, im thinking someone rebuilt it at some time, and would love some more info on it thanks for looking L
The '64 is one of the most beautiful as well as comfortable Fords ever built in the 60's! Unfortunately, your example looks to have spent more years being abused than loved. But it also appears to be a rust-free car (as evidenced by the original '64 license plate) and should not be difficult or expensive to restore correctly. I've had many XL's with 289 and they are truly marvelous road cars! The missing body and trim parts should not be difficult to find from other hobbyists. Look, also, for original sales brochures and magazine ads to really appreciate these cars in their proper glory. Good luck with your restoration.
Thanks man ! Ether - give me $25 for some cheap flat back spray cans and order some skulls from hot topic and we can get yours looking like mine when I got it hahahaha
