    Hello everyone,

This is my first post but I have been lurking in the background here for awhile now.

I have a truck that I can seem to find any information on, does anyone know what a ford f-105 is?

I figured I should find out what I have before I start cutting it up!

    Thanks for your insight!

    It is a "F-5 " ,about a 1&1/2 ton. no such thing as a F-105. Someone is pulling someone's leg I think.

I think the F105 was a Canadian model. Hard to find info.

I figured no one would believe me when I said f-105 that's why I posted a picture of the original badging alongside the original door paint (phone number is only 2 digits!)

Being a "Canadian model only" makes sense since I live in Canada and the door logo is a small town in Saskatchewan.

I was going to hot rod this dually with a ***mins 5.9 but if it's rare that might not be a good idea anymore?

F-105 was the Canadian designation for a 1 1/2 ton F4 from 48-50 - In 51 they called them F4 just like US. The Mercury Version was M-105. SOME short wheelbase (110") F-5 were also called F-105 but most were F-135's

And just so you know, F-1's were called F-47 and F-2's were F-68's

  7. Very cool! I'm working on rebuilding a US '48 F4. They are cool trucks that is for sure.

Thanks for the great replies, that is the exact information i was looking for.

My next question, is it special/rare/worth anything more, restored, than an F-4 of the same year? Do I have a numbers matching hemi cuda or just a uniquely badged truck?

I'd hate to cut it all up just to learn it had some value restored.

Of course I understand if there isn't someone willing to buy it, it isnt worth anything.

If nothing else, you could sell the F-105 fender emblems. Personally, I'd like to have some F-429 emblems. :D

  10. Why cut it up ....seems that truck is a prime carhauler candidate .... keep it on the road.

Personally I don't think it's all that rare. If you had an M-105, maybe, but a F-105 they made plenty of- just an old 1 1/2 ton work truck

By cut it up I mean hot rod it. I think a dually flatdeck with a ***mins would be very cool and useful

  15. Your truck looks like it is in great shape, better than the one I started off with. If you can, I'd fix it up.

Cool! That's the first one I've seen pics of - the info you got above is right.

The wheels are usually a problem. 18's? are widowmakers and nobody here will mount them.

GVWR was 10,500 - about the same as the US F4.

Ford Canada used weight as the rating description for 48-50: F47, F68, F105, F135, etc.

    Currently I'm turning one (50 F4) into a plow truck and using 8.25x20 wheels/tires on a 134" wb ch***is

Your right about the wheels being an issue. I bought a second truck just for its rims. Where did you get your 8.25x20's or are they just painted?

Just a little note, Ford made less F-4s than the other models. The F-4 were in a niche of being too big for small hauling jobs and too small for heavy hauling. They have a single wall frame, the larger trucks have a double walled frame. I have a '48/52 F-4. The reason I like them is because their a lighter truck but have the big truck look with the dual wheels and the F-4 doesn't have the frame rust problems that bigger trucks with the double wall frames have.

If the truck is in good condition I'd restore it to original. I'd also bet the F-105 disignation is even rarer.
