Rad car man its turning out good. Since you asked about drip rails I say keep em it helps break the roofline and keeps the rear windows from "looking" lower than the fronts. The top of the door line creates that illusion. Thats just my opinion.

Keep them. A car without them always looks like they took the easy way out of a problem.

looking great man, cant wait to see it done. as for the drip rails, if you were building a custom that looked like it was supposed to be built in the late 40s early 50s, then i would say ditch them, but if that doesnt matter to you, i would keep them. i agree with meddler, it created an illusion that the rear window is lower that the front window. besides, they serve a pretty good purpose!

Had a great weekend on the car. Got the rest of the interior welding done as I mentioned yesterday. I managed to sneak to the shop this morning for a few hours and get the 50 Ford tail lights frenched in. I am really happy with the way they turned out, I think they fit the car nicely.

Got a drivers side rocker and a lower front quarter patch coming from ems. That'll take care of the two nasty spots. Going to get into the taildragger/airbags this week. Looks like its not going to gambinos...oh well

Yeah, I know, but I wasn't honestly looking forward to making that run with no side windows or heater in the car anyway!

Got some done yesterday. Got all motivated after a day with Gene winfield. Got the Fuel tube cut out and patched. Brian gotten drivers door straightened and re-hung. We made some patch pieces for the door frame using newly learned techniques. Also got the headlights installed.

Great build thread ,Erik. I just got a 50 Deluxe that I'm chopping(1st timer !) and your experience really helps. That's a really nice ride.

Things I've learned the hard way...Watch your heat, only grind on the weld and if you can swing it, have someone with experience and big-ass english wheel make the roof panels for you so there won't be too much body work involved.
