May be a stupid question but I have never done this before.

I am polishing a flathead intake and heads and I am wandering after they are finnish should I just leave them or do they get clear coated?

    You can go either way.
The heads are easy to keep clean as they are fairly flat.

I've done both. Clearcoat got stained brown from fuel leaks and had to be stripped. Plain intake oxidizes over time, but that adds patina and doesn't look bad.

  4. Eaglebeak hit the nail on the head, if your going to run an old intake with older style carbs, their going to leak and then you have an issue with the clearcoat.
