I don't get it!

I subscribe to HAMB because I appreciate the traditional hot rod. I am not in to the Customs so much but I can appreciate the work and craftsmanship that have gone in to them. What I don't get is the fawning over every old piece of tin that someone finds abandoned in a barn, field, and pond. Some of this stuff was shit back when it was made so what is the current fascination with this stuff. The forum members have no problem criticizing current cars that are poor examples of design or craftsmanship. But if the same piece of shit is 50 to 75 years old old it suddenly becomes an object to be saved and restored. I don't get it! Most of the cars that grace these pages are neat, and are deserving of our admiration. Even most of the cars that are found abandoned in barns, fields, ponds are neat... But some of them are unworthy of anything but scorn... They were pieces of shit originally and they still are and the fact that they are really old doesn't change anything in my mind. Sorry to rant but this has been bothering me for some time

I agree to a point... BUT... Every car has something special about it. Maybe you dont like it but there is someone out there that absolutely loves them... Best example i can think of is a Chevy Corvair... It was slow and had alot of out of the ordinary styling and designs. And is ABSOLUTELY LOVED by some... Another example is Route 66... it out lived its usefulness and was replaced. To many people it never was anything special, just another road, but does that mean it should be completely gone?
