well that is an awsome picture. in the 22 yrs i lived in long beach, redondo beach, hawthorne, gardena, and bellflower i saw it snow in malibu and snow in downtown la and the san fernando valley all the way to ventura.
    this picture is very fitting.

yes it does snow in southern california.

10 years ago tonite, Johnie's Broilers former owner,Minnie Ortner closed it's doors for the last time ever as Johnie's Broiler. Thus began Adriene's lifelong dream of Saving The Broiler! I watched this great landmark as I'd go to the foundry fall into even more disrepair and intentional ruin.

I'm glad to say that I joined her in her fight to "SAVE JOHNIE'S" in my case "HARVEY'S" and we have the Broiler back better than ever! While you're celebrating the New Year tonite, raise a glass for the Broiler, because all of us did infact make a difference in bringing a piece of our history back to life to make memories for future generations. Thank you :).

So many important dates! Jan. 7th marked the 5th anniversary of the illegal demolition of the Broiler. Kevin, thank you for waiting to talk with me after the Jan. 9th, 2007 City Council meeting; and for making a commitment to work with me. It took our shared vision and passion to get people to believe in rebuilding the Broiler and to tell the world that it's a reality. Seriously couldn't have done it without you, K.

I am missing Adriene and Kevin. I need to find sometime away from normal life and work to come hang out with my friends. I will see you guys soon. I am hoping to be out in the middle of January. The Buick looks like it spent a night in east LA. It is on jack stands waiting for some new wheel color and tires.

    See you guys soon.

    Wow!
What a nice note to read. It did take a joint effort and making a commitment, my cars, company suffered and even lost family-(dad).
I agree with the shared vision, passion that we still have 5-10 years later,
inspiration was defintely a key factor, but there we were on "Dia de la Demolition" with Broiler members of a club that wouldn't exist if this place wouldn't have been saved. Thanx all for being a part of it.

    CK

Wow! exactly. Adriene, Kevin, first off great day with both of you at Cable Airport along with Brian and his guest's on the 7th. A day that would have never gone the way it did without both of your efforts. I have gained same true friends and the place I thought I would never see again during my plans to move back into town. Thank you Johnny
