Urban ledgend 32 three window does exist!!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by roadstar, Jun 9, 2005.

  1. I have know of this car for about 10 years. I have never seen it, but I know the garage it was supposed to be in. I even drove by a few times to see if anyone was ever around.

I knew the car did actually exist because a local appraiser friend of mine does a new apraisal for the guy every couple of years.

The car is mostly stock with V8 and juice brakes. But thats it.

Well today I get a call from a buddy that says he's sitting on a sidestreet looking at a all stock grey 32 Ford 3 window just sitting there in front of the guys garage with nobody around. I was heading home for lunch anyway so I ate and grabed the camera and went to the street he told me the car was sitting on.

Well guys here it is, in all it's glory. Maybe just that old car to his neighbors but the "Holy Grail" to most of us here. I was actually surprised to see how nice it really was as far as old unrestored cars go. It has had areas fixed here and there but for the most part this car looks like it was never too far apart.

Here are some pics I took. I think maybe I'll go offer him $500.00 bucks for it and see what he says :D

That's why, no matter what the story is when your "buddies uncles friend" knows where "one of them duce coop roadsters is.." you HAVE to go look.

    You just never know....

  5. Update: I decided after I made the post to take a ride back over to see if he was around and if the car was still outside. It was, and the garage was open. The owner and his son were doing brakes on a latemodel something and thats why the car was sitting outside.

Funny thing was when I parked and walked up he said Hi like we were old friends. I remember now meeting him about 8 years ago at a cruise nite when I had my nailhead powered roadster and I even gave him a ride in it. He told me of the 32 he had and that was that. Crazy.

Anyway I got a good look at the car and talked to him for about a half hour before letting him get back to work on the brake job. The car has a 40's flatty and juice brakes, runs and drives great he says and he has no intentions of selling it anytime soon. And I'm such a dork, this time I forgot the camera. I wanted to be friendly and not pester him about selling it and I think he appreciated that. But I did tell him I would be interested anytime he did consider it.

    Yup, there still out there.

If it is like most of the 32 3W's around here.......Green money $$$ will not even make the owner's eyes blink........ :D

I know of 5 ( yes five ) different 1932 3W's that cannot be bought.....even for stupid money.........that's WHY they still have them.

Looks like it was road worthy not long ago. I'd offer him stupid money if I was you, and if I had stupid money to spend! If I were him and someone offered me $500 I'd kick thier ass from here to next week.

This post makes me think of a car, I have known about for years.I was working one of my first jobs, I was probably in my teens then,(late sixties).always drove around on my lunch breaks to get away from the "CRABBY OLD FARTS" of which I am now one,any whoo,I was driving down a street, damn near broke my neck, spotted an old Ford coupe, in a one car garage, turns out to be a 33 three window, complete, original, but far from perfect, now I would say it is perfect. To make a long story short, about 10 years ago, finally got the nerve to stop and find out about it, after damn near beating the door down,an older lady comes to the door, she is hard of hearing, then I yell at the top of my voice is that 33 for sale, she says it belongs to her son and she wishes he would sell it or move it,she is tired of being bothered, by people asking about it.HA HA!
I contacted the owner, nice fellow, who happens to have a model A roadster, old hot rod, thats another story,I made him a good offer, for the 33, he smiled and said its not for sale.Turns out, he was asking around about head lights for his model A and another fellow, said to check with old so and so, down south of town.He contacted the guy, the old fellow says no I dont have any model A,s, but I do have this old 33 in the barn, he says I cant sell it, I still drive it.The guy hit it off with the older fellow, helped him out with a few odd jobs, and when the older fellow passed, he left it to the current owner in his will.He drove it to the small one car garage it now resides in,sometime in the mid-sixties,I drive by occasionally, just to say Hi to it, you can see the outline of it,dust covered, through a small window in the garage.Damn I want that car bad, but it aint gonna happen.Maybe I need to go see if the owner has any odd jobs, he needs some help with?

Here's a picture a guy posted on another forum I'm on. He won't tell me where it is. The funny thing is I'm interested in the fenders on the 52 truck in the background and I need fenders desperately. It's so annoying.

  16. Oh man! Now thats hard to take. Looks like an old Roundy round car. It's a shame to see one rotting away like than knowing they are so valuable.

At least the one I showed here is still being enjoyed and driven by the current owner.

    What a shame.

Actually, I would probably HATE to have that car.

I couldn't chop it to pieces and make a hot rod, it's far too nice for that. A restored one is cool, but not what I would do. I could probably do what the current owner is doing - saving it for the next guy - but what's the fun in that? Or I could drive it like it is and freak out about every SUV that comes within 1000 yards of it.

A car like that is a responsibility...

When you look at a stock one like that, it strikes you how the guys back in the day must have looked at it for it's potential aerodynamics and said to themselves, "If I take off these fenders, chop that top some and channel it down over the frame a bit, I could tear up the salt."

Rudy, old buddy, old pal. I'm still looking for that aircleaner and I just know you'll want to pay me something for it if I can locate it. Well, My intention was to just give it to you but if you insist on dropping that old 3w off at my place I'm sure we could call it even. :D

I think I'm going to start hanging out with you. You seem to find about the coolest stuff imaginable. If your thinking about the '32 for yourself I understand. A '33/'34 3w will make a nice substitute for the '32. Did I mention that the air cleaner is MINT.;)

Did anybody save that post several months back of at least 7 or 8 32 3windows some guy had jammed in his garage? I still dream about that picture. I looked for the old post but couldnt find it. I think it may have got lost when the HAMB changed over a while back

  28. seeing the picture of that orange 3 window makes me want to puke. Especially if there is someone who know where it is and wont tell. That cars needs an overhang and some protection from the elements...its been beat up enought.

as for the stock 32 3-window...that thing is worth a fortune...I know where a stripped 3-window on a rolling frame and the owner has been hit up w/ offers as high as $60k ... and turned them down. Pretty unbelieveable.

    :)

  29. The guy who won't say where it is doesn't want to go back with whatever the asking price is for it and find it gone. Simple as that. Sad thing is I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those places where the cars are $300, $400 each.

I'm trying to get into a place like that where, so the story goes, he had a '34 Ford coupe up by the road that sat and a tree had grown up through the bumper, maybe 4, 5 inches thick. The car was an old rod with a nailhead in it and not bad shape outside of sitting outdoors long enough for the tree to grow through it.

Well, along comes a day - and this was still at least 20 years ago - the car is gone. Someone sawed the tree down and stole the car. Nevermind that the guy does sell stuff and they could have paid for it, but they must have used an electric or hand saw to cut the tree during the night and towed it down the road. I'm sure it's in someone's garage right now -

Gonna be fun to get in there with a cam and you know what? I won't be able to tell anyone where it is if I want to, I'm sure part of my buddy showing it to me will be being sworn to secrecy. But if I see anything like a '32 that's the first thing I'm going to haul out.
