Nice work on the dash, but that steering arm is the balls...

  3. I agree with Tinman. That hoop is the shizzynit!!!

  4. Larry, Larry, Larry, You might be waiting a few months. I'm slow. They will get cut down and put on a adjustable track of some kind. Not sure how I'm gonna do them. If you could pin down and actual age on them I would appreciate it so I can be accurate in describing them in the future.

The closest I can get to the actual date of manufacture for those seats is 1937-1942. The Beech-18 was actually produced up until 1970, but didn't have those types of seats I believe.

Steering hoop looks great Dale! Very cool and different!

  7. As I mentioned earlier in my posts I wanted to build an accessory panel to house 3 of the 6 small 2 1/8 S-W winged gauges. Not enough room in the main dash for all the gauges I want to use. Here's what I came up with today. I made this to fit the curvuture of the bottom of the 38 dash. I decided it needed to be simple in design. I will paint this black to match the dash. I made it with a pretty deep housing so it hides the gauges from the side when looking in the car with doors open. I will put some lights inside and it will keep the light from spilling out the back with the rear cover on it. I have not decided what gauges will go in this underdash pod yet so that is why I have not cut the holes in the back of it yet. That will come when I decide what I want where. It's too late to go bolt it under the dash but it looks pretty good. Maybe tomorrow I will get it attached to the dash for a view. This was easy to build and I like it better since it hides the gauge backs totally.

Copy cat! Nice, but why did you close the backside?

  9. Doug, I will cut out some holes for things to poke through in a bit. When you put lights in these they shine light out the back under the dash. I don't want that. You'll see when I take you for a ride someday(soon I hope) It will be dark and we will be alone. Nuff said.

  10. I will look and see , I had a box of spares..But I may have given them to Dave A. whom I traded for the 5w

  11. Doug , it's a rip off... some guys geezz!

The alone part I'm not liking but since the gauges are back lit it makes all kinds of sense. Now I get it. And by the way, that's more sprung weight which is a good thing.

Rob, it's a continuous thing but who cares. Surely, I copied someone else. You'll never find a truly new idea coming from me.

  14. I didn't even realize you made something like this Doug. I will promptly take it out to the shed and smash it with a BFH! Back to work on the floor tomorrow.

Looks great! I remember having a car with the ol' underdash gauge deal going on. Looked shitty from the sides, and light leaking out back was distracting as well. You covered both issues well!

Two dashes I've done that to but your old man had a way to not have to make that type of panel. But I like it!

  17. Great ! I'm going to have Dale make me and exact copy !

  18. I mocked it up in the car for a visual. Looks ok to me. Spent a few hours working on the rear floorpan area and making subrails. I still have aways to go but I'm getting something done. I can't wait till this part is over and I am on to other things. I want the body mocked up on the frame.

Your build has inspired me to tear my body down to the bare floors. the pictures of just the floor on the frame gave me a few ideas.

  21. Clark, I was wondering when I posted on that 32 build thrash thread if you still had your 34 project. I still have the roof parts off that car. Waiting to see if I need them during the upcoming chopjob. Hoping to hammer this dude in the upcoming year. Been a long time since I have talked to you. Dale

Yeah....Unfortunately my car keeps getting pushed back. I have done a little here and there but have a lot to do. Sucks being the last in line.

I have been working on 2 34 customer cars and have learned a lot about them. It's helping me understand what l can really do to the car. I am sacrificing the trunk floor out of my car for the stocker we're working on. We're shooting for a perfect restoration.

  24. Well, Your gonna need a floor pan back there then. The piece I got was from SAR and it is heavy gauge sheetmetal(16?) It makes for a good base to build off that's for sure. Good luck on your projects.

  25. Dale, I looked sorry but all I found was some latches and door handles. He got all my spare dash and radio knobs I had rat holed away. Which I need to give to him.. wish I could have helped on that one.

  26. Thanks Roberto! I have plenty of time to come up with what I need. I would be happy to make you a gauge panel. You just have to let me know how many gauges you want to put under your dash and figure out what cool little owl or devil toppers you want to let go of.(Ouch!) Call me and we can work out what you want to do. I love your new 35. That is the perfect car for you man! I would love to have one of my pieces on your hooptie.

  27. Man , those toppers hard to let go of... I traded one to Shawn ( he misplaced the first one we traded way back for when he moved to F-crest) I'll have to find some bitch'in gauges( I'll ask your Dad , if I add any gauges) . Trying to keep the 35 , the way it is. Should have the rims next week ( I'm hoping ) Ordered them from Wheelkid on here( RallyAmerica) ... Need to have a access plate made for the floor above the mastercylinder/clutch resv....Have Merry Christmas... Just had the exhaust done on the 35

Merry Christmas Dale: Your 38 dash looks like it jumped up and took root in your coupe like it belonged there. The auxiliray panel is super! Good job on everything so far. Dad

  30. Thanks Dad! It's all your fault!!!!!! Worked on floor again today a little bit. Not much to show yet. Hope all is well today. Wish we were together for the holidays.
