someone told me on my build thread that front coils from a 1960-64 galaxie would raise my 58 a few inches. right now i have the 460 swap and the crites restoration headers are slammed to the ground. i need to raise it a good six inches or so. when i bought my 58, it was already lowered, coils were cut. i was thinking maybe just stock v8 springs from a 58 fairlane, but i need more height than the stock springs. any suggestions or opinions if that would work?
Good to see one going up instead of down I'd probably try some new HD v8 springs. Heres a good link to engine weights to help you decide... http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.html Keep in mind that if your 460 has a alum intake youve already dropped about 50 pounds off of it.
will any heavy duty v8 coil spring work though? are coils different sizes or anything? because i'd hate to fork out the money for them only to realize its not gonna fit. i wish i knew someone who raised their 57 or 58 ford in the front and what springs they used
perfection. love it! so you used the HD coil springs? any particular one? i googled it and it took me to ebay, and i found a number of them
I got a vague description of "mid-1960s Galaxie springs" from the guy who built it. I ended up cutting a coil off each to get some suspension travel as it was against the upper limit all of the time. Try big block 64 springs.
