IFS in a 31 Chevy

I am working on a 31 Chevy sedan that the front end is totaly worn out and thinking of and IFS. MII is out of the question due to front fenders, wondering what anyone else may have used and how it worked out. Thanks for any help.

used after market from jim weimer garage worked great had to notch the inside fender brackets but it worked drives great

I f I were to do another one I'd use a ford i beam and radius rods. If you are building a street rod by a TCI, I've never seen the JW garage one but if its like the other ones I've bought from them it should work well.

I used Hight's on the 34 Chevy. Pretty much the same program on your car with the fenders. I did half to modify the fender braces some but in the scope of things no big deal.

The IFS in my stalled 1929 Chevy project is a TCI, that I wish sat a lot lower than it does. It is actually the one for a 34 ford, rear steer, stainless A-arms, Wilwood brakes and hubs. Certainly "NOT HAMB approved".

Do a measure-up on the front end in an old Jag at your local wreckers if you can find one. They bolt in on 2 straight brackets to the Jag frame, have disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, sway bar etc. They handle well and certainly fit under early Fords so a Chev should be a snip!

 Probably too wide for this application, but it can be cut down by removing the appropriate amount from the cross member and rack, (I have seen one narrowed for a 34 ford ch***is).

Ford I beam and bones with Model A cross member is doable.

My Es*** sits on a '30 Chevy ch***is. It had a Corvair IFS under it when I bought the truck, but it's been replaced with a Model A crossmember, a 4" drop axle and split wishbones. It's still in the mock-up stage but I think I will be very happy with the way it sits when it's all back together.

I used an aftermarket MII xmember that is 4" wider then stock MII.
It takes a lot of money to go this way. And a TON of work. If I had it to do over I would go with a dropped axel and maybe get reverversed eye springs from Eaton.. Luck

I have a 33 Chevy and I used TCI Front End. Car is not complete yet so I can't tell you how it will sit but it looks like it'll sit low enough. It's a rear steer with the sway bar.
