I am REALLY looking forward to seeing the finished article. Looks absolutely fantastic, can't wait until I am in a position to own a 55.

Keep up the good work Kev and Robert.

Yeah it's my car had it since 1978 when my dad got from out you way. No axle just some balljoint spacers and some custom made springs from eaton springs. I'm getting ready to radius my quarters and liked the look of yours there in Kevs garage.

Wow! Just read the thread. Was looking for ideas on upholstery for '63 Impala seats I just got for my '55 and found your post. Cool looking car. What axle width did you get? I got mine a few years ago when they only had the narrow one so I had a wider one made so the tires fit the wells.

Do you have a layout for your interior yet?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hey Mike,
Glad that you enjoy my thread. If you had really READ this thread you would have seen that we used a 51" dropped axle from Speedway and that I am going with black vinyl pleats.
But hey, rock on buddy. reread the WHOLE thread because there is alot of info. here for you and others to get your cars rockin'.
The world needs more axle cars that are loud, obnoxious and scare small children. Like this one will soon.

I missed the axle post... I'll report to the shame corner.

I've seen the pleats go horizontal and vertical as well as inside the 'panels' with a smooth surround. Just trying to see more ideas before I get mine redone.

I hear ya Doug. I don't want to stop but I have to. Money is my only issue. But I checked on the new motor and it is rolling along. And tomorrow I'm going in for a Hernia Surgery so it's going to be awhile no matter how much money I have. I'll keep ya posted.

Shades of 1965! You could shop this photo a little and make it look like the "glory days" when this was going on with tri-5s all over SoCal. Love the Impala buckets. I need a pair of those for my '55! That, or a stock bench with a indentation cut into the front edge to clear the shifter.

Very cool Muttley. CUT55 Groucho pie cut my shifter on the front at the base and bent it forward then rewelded it so it cleared the seat. Wish I could photoshop it to show ya. Anybody know what I mean?

Just read through this whole thread , a few questions..
What front and size axel are you running?
    What are your interior plans?
What size rear wheel and tires are you planning on?

Just kidding , Awesome car and look forward to seeing more.

Sorry for the delay. I believe that we used a 51" axle from Speedway. 15X4 Cragars on front with 5.60-15 in. Firestone Bias Ply on the front. The interior I am planning on using black vinyl pleats. Maybe a white headliner. That strikes me as kinda nostalgic. It will at least make the interior brighter that's for sure.
I know that everybody is going to ring in on THAT little tid bit of information so I'll just ask. What do you guys think?
