another ? for the ford f-1 experts

    hi i have a 1949 ford f-1 p/up 6 cylinder 3 speed light duty bone stock with a bad 2nd gear sincro or spits out 2nd gear.They are selling me a 3sp with the power take off plate supossed heavyduty of a 1949 ford f-1 v8 with better syncros .the ques. will the power take off trans off a v8 flatty be a direct fit on my 6 cyl.flattyf-1? and is it a better transmission the my regular 3 sp.can u pls advise me .I'm an original guy not really a t5 conv.guy at least not yet ..thankyou gentlemen.

    I don't think the heavy 3 speeds are sychronized. I've only had trucks with either the four speed or light duty 3 speed. I have a heavy 3 speed on my shelf. I got it from someone but never had it in a truck.

    Go to the '48-56 Ford truck board on FTE as Mike suggested. There are a lot of guys there with all the information you need.

    did you try Chucks trucks in Hamden? he might have the right ******, or tell you if the one you have will work.
