Well,I warily welcome you here. Just be warned, change your screen name now while you can.Anything with the term rat rod in it will get you harassed and ridiculed on here. Rat rods are not welcome here and not well tolerated by just about all the members. If you are building a ratty rod then this is not the site for you.

    Read This First!
The HAMB is dedicated to spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and kustoms to hoodlums world wide. That’s right – TRADITIONAL. And we aren’t talking Beach Boys and poodle skirts here fellas. If you are into a-side 50’s pop, lawn chairs, ruler contests, and all things that make hot rodding warm and cozy then you might want to find another message board. If you aren’t sure what we mean by “traditional”, then you might think twice as well. If you’ve come here to set a rep, talk some shit, and make some fun then you had better turn around right now. We aren't patient.

Even if you have come here for all the right reasons, don’t expect posting to be easy. We don’t cater to new fellas unless they show a dedication to spreading this tradition of ours first. We welcome young, old, foreign and all – but our original members and our staff expect a certain level of respect and an effort to keep things true and on topic.

Maybe you are an old fart with a past. Maybe you are one of the guys that started this tradition we cherrish. We built this place for you and your posts mean the world to us. Hop on and introduce yourself. This is your board.

Still reading? Then you must be cut out for this, right? We recommend you read some more. Check out all the forums, develop an understanding for how things work around here, learn the “do’s” and “do not’s”… The key to a happy HAMB newbie is to understand the joint BEFORE you begin posting. You want to be happy don’t ya newbie?

We have very few written rules here on the HAMB and that’s the way we like it, but we won’t hesitate to dump disruptive posters, ego freaks, or shit talkers. We are all here to learn and teach - please keep your other perogatives on the sidelines.

    Rules:
    1. No profanity in subject lines
    2. No political/religious/racial posts
    3. No Porn.
    4. All personal information listed on this board is private and protected. The HAMB does not sell this information and you are not privy to use it for your own reasons. Test us on this one and we will bite.
    5. New Users must fill out thier profiles. Every bit that you can. Simply click on "User Cp" above and get to work.
    6. New users must introduce themselves in the intro forum.

    Guidelines:
    1. If in doubt, don’t post it
    2. Stay on-topic and relevant with your posts… OT posts aren’t generally appreciated by our membership.
    3. Gotta easy question? Try using the search function first.
    4. Your life here would probably be easier if you complete your profile and introduce yourself before jumping into the deep end...

Hey Just Gadget, I did read the sticky. My first post was by no means religious. I simply said "Merry Christmas" after I introduced myself which I promply removed after you were so kind to welcome me. I think I saw alot of that bad word on here yesterday. If you're going to call me names at least say it. FNG ?? Grow a set.
    Happy Holidays! :)

Let me start off by saying, I never complained about anyone saying Merry Christmas on here ... I have never seen anyone slam over any type of Holiday greeting! 2nd, I have been a member for years on another acct, it was hacked by some dickhead so I had to start over ... 3rd, the rule is no profanity in the subject lines, read the damn STICKY! 4th, I am offended by you calling my beloved cars and trucks rodents, they are Traditional rods here, can you say Traditional rods? Maybe I have been somewhat harsh on some of you FNG's, but I was slammed just the same for not reading the STCKY and following the rules, and you think FNG may be Fuckin' New Guy? Like I said before follow the rules or find another place to hang ... The intro page is what is says ... FOR YOUR FUCKIN' Introduction! Get over it or get OUT! Not my rules, it just the rules!!!!!!!!!!

    Welcome from a fellow Buckeye.

Check out the search function when you have questions. Tons of great info on here. I have been gathering parts for nearly a year for my project and I have changed direction a couple of times due to good information I found here.

If you do post a question because you can't find an answer, pictures are pretty much a necessity.

A hearty welcome to you "ratrodnit". I personally feel your name is fine. It does not bother me one bit. You probably should change your name so you can play nice with the boys on here.
I feel that there is a very fine line between a "traditional hot rod" and a so called "rat rod. If you go back to the early days of hot rodding you will find that the cars were made up of available parts and what you could afford. Early hot rodders did not have a cell phone tied to their checkbook and a vast array of catalogs to order from. They got it done though. I am terribly sorry to any of the members I may offend here on this great site, but if you ask me, a traditional hot rod is merely a ratrod of today. I wish that I could afford all the expensive goodies available, but I can't. My next build is a 27 roadster on an all original model a chassis with mechanical brakes. Its affordable and will be very traditional.

    Welcome from Michigan.

  21. Actually, you will find that the majority of Rat Rods now are BUILT to look that way. (yuck) It has very little at all to do with economics as it was in the old days. So comparing them is sooo wrong.

Welcome to the site ratrodnit from the Bluegrass State. My name is just a name....you can look in my album and see my car is not Ratty. Its a great site and full of ridicule but I have learned to deal with it because I have made and met too many friends on here to let one word or two discourage me......Go Cats!!

You can get lots of great info on this site you just have to ignore the dicks that have nothing to add and just want to be keyboard tough guys. Head to the message board and ask your questions you will get more info than you can process.
    Welcome to the site

Im right with ya budgetman, my funds are very low also, I just keep diggin in the garage hoping to find something to work

  28. You guys think a rat rod is just a "budget" rod but you are wrong.
A rat rod is one that is "deliberately" built to look ratty.
It is NOT a rod that is unfinished or built on a budget.

So get stuck in and build your budget rods and stop thinking you are building a ratty rod.
Unles that'syour intent right from the word go.
