You could get an even more radical stance by removing a couple more leaves in the front.

Based on the stack where the tines all come together at the handle, I'd say it's bamboo, and not a steel rake. It's pre-traditional...

Heres yet another view of one of mine.

 

Here's my project. The cardboard "tires" are the same height & width as the real ones will be. The wood 4x4 "frame" has a 6* down angle and will be a '32 frame very soon.

 

My lil' Girl's rig has some sweet rake. Gettin' ready fer the 2011 Hot Rod Reunion in this pic.
