Has anybody heard of the 100 car pileup, i beleive it was in IL? It was supposed to be an awesome show but heard they discontued it. Anyone have any info about it?
Did you do a search...??? Of course not, otherwise you wouldn't ask the question here... There's about 50 pages on it... Try putting in "Hunnert Car Pileup" in the search... R-
seems like a legit question to me. the only place I ever heard of it was here. good to see the search police are here to keep everything running smoothly.
I don't know what we would do without them. Well scratch that, I do know. Questions would be answered.
I think he is asking a real question. The first few times I ever heard of the Pile up was on the HAMB, and I thought maybe "Hunnert" was a play on words or an intentional misspelling. Kind of an odd name, don'tcha think?? -Abone.
Seriously? Its had coverage in about every magazine that covers traditional hot rods/ Customs or r**r*ds and some that dont for multiple years, not to mention the TV shows. EDIT: Damn I type slow
yeah, lots of shows from all over have articles in magazines. I don't memorize them all. read a couple magazines over the long weekend. couldn't tell ya what show coverage I saw. ... and if not for here I would not know or even care that it is no longer going on.
I heard there was this thing called Wouldstock that had lots of bands but it is not happening any more?
...but THIS is happening in Woodstock, Illinois, next Fall.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=618476
It was a terrble crash just terrble, bodies everywhere, carnage, people running about with ****ing chest wounds just awful this hunnurd car pile up thing, no survivors neither just awful.
Yes, to answer your question,it was a great show and the last one was this year. The HAMB is the only place I've ever heard of it too,and since the name was spelled wrong for some reason, the search would most likely fail.
that might be a great show in its own right, but there is no replacing the pileup, even though it was a horrible show that nobody liked or attended.
I just tried to spell it 10 different ways between here and Google. Same thing. Takes you RIGHT to the show. I never made it, but enjoyed the pics for years. So yeah, we've heard of it too.... What's the real question?
It was a great show and a better place to go hang out and enjoy some nightlife. The town square at the last venue was killer but the set-up at Morris was more car friendly. Hopefully the new show at Morris will be just as good.
funny how all you keyboard bullies wait with anticipation for somebody to ask a "dumb" question. I hope the OP decided to visit Coolstuff's show at Woodstock next fall and that he has a great time.
Thanks again to all you Chrome Czars out there for making it happen. I never made it to a Hunnert but sure woulda liked to be there with a particular good friend who introduced me to the show years ago. RIP Hunnert Car Pile-Up.-Weeks
A lot can be accomplished by doing a little work yourself before asking questions, but whatever. The Pileup has been written about in blurbs to full articles in everything from Hot Rod to magazines outside the US. I don't know about TV, but it has been featured in MFS and Vintage Torque. Starting with the very first show 10 years ago in the original Hot Rod DeLuxe. No one expects anyone to remember the names of every show featured though. Everyone and their dog has a website. We're no different. Info and pictures from the Pileup can be found at HunnertCarPileup.com (not to mention Facebook) There were 10 shows from 2002-2011 - 2 in Sycamore at a body shop, 6 in Morris and 2 in Decatur, IL. The show was always strictly limited to traditional hoot rods and customs and no trailered cars were ever allowed. By most counts, each show was a huge success. The reasons ending it after 10 are many and varied and covered in many threads here on the HAMB. In a nutshell, it got too big and lost focus. There are several other similar Midwest shows that have already taken up the torch successfully. Check out a listing at the Independent Syndicate.
