Can anyone advise if this company, once located in Riverside CA is still operating? I had my 35 ford gauges refurbished by them years ago , they did a great job, but having at long last got round to fitting them,I have a problem with the fuel gauge and could do with some advice. I have tried e-mailing them a few times but only received a delivery failure notice, the phone just rang out. Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure whats up with them but they've had some problems the last couple of years. Do a search on them there are several threads regarding them. On a side note they did a great job on my guages several years ago. 41plym
If you don't get anywhere there, try Autoinstruments--they're in Virginia (east cost of the country) http://autoinstruments.com/ I've done several stories with the owner, and have become friends with him along the way... great guy, great service, and a great business ethic. -Brad
Thanks everyone, Such a shame they went, living so far away (Scotland, the guy I dealt with even understood my accent!)), they were very helpful, very prompt with their work and they did a beautiful job restoring the pretty ****py things I sent. Thanks for link Brad. Gordon.
Dam.. say it aint so.. **** i was going to have my 56 Olds cluster speedo redone by them this winter.. guess not
Redline. Shannon is the owner and he is reliable. They have done 3 sets for the shop and are working on 4 & 5 right now. Here is a thread about united from a year or so ago, not good. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431254&highlight=united
we all use model electronics 615 East Crescent Avenue Ramsey, NJ 07446-1220 (201) 961-1699
I just called the old number. Andy answered the telephone. Still trying to get our gauges back. He gave me an address. And a promise to have an answer for me by the end of the day or early tomorrow. Anybody live in/near Riverside that would want to go for a ride?

I am going to bring this topic back to life about United Speedometer in case anyone is thinking of using this company's services. Their website lies about their location. It is a small garage behind their home. It is not a two story building with bays. We sent them a '56 clock to be repaired two years ago - still no clock and still no refund of money. Rick, the dad and owner, promises to send us the money. He refused certified letter. Butch, the son, states the computer and the fax machine are always broken and/or down. I am fed up with their lies and stealing our money. We own Ramsey's Rods and Restoration in Fort Worth, TX. Our lead tech went personally to their home in Riverside, CA, and they would not pay him the money owed to us. Stay away from this company!
It's really too bad. I wonder what happened. I lived near Riverside years ago. I used them and when I went there I believe it was a 2 story building. Very professional, very prompt and I was very happy. Times change and people change too. Very sad.
Is United Speedometer still there ? They have a set of gauges for my 52 Belair going on two years now, when I call they say they are working on them ?
bringing this back to the top... These guys are full of ****. I stood in their filthy little garage for an hour while they tried to find gauges that belong to a friend. During this time, the phone rang at least 30 times. 90% of the calls ( old school answering machine so you can screen calls) were people very upset and trying to get there parts back. The owner, Rick, finally found the gauges. They were nowhere near done even though he told my buddy (very respected hot rod / restoration shop in Phoenix) that they had been shipped. I put Rick on the phone to my friend ( this was the only way we could get Rick to respond). Rick promised to ship them the next Friday. Friday goes by and no evidence of the gauges being shipped. Unable to contact these idiots again for two more weeks. I went back. Gauges not finished. New damage to them. And Rick was being a total smart ***. I had to physically take the. Parts from them.. All the while... The phone rang on...Funny thing is, The owner just doesn't give a ****.
Good to know-will save some folks lots of grief-thx for the info. For early Ford gauges I use Lee Kelly-he only does early Ford gauges. He has done 9 or 10 40 std and dlx clusters and 6 or 7 clocks for me. Can do either stock or converted to 12 volts with proper senders. He is timely and reasonable as well-great guy too. Just had him do 2 40 std clusters converted to 12 volts. They are beautiful and all have worked very well. I always keep a couple extra done-currently have a std and dlx and 3 clocks. He is in Idaho 208-734-7785
These gauges were for a 1957 Pontiac. Not real easy to replace. When he choses to cut off ALL lines of communication people tend to panic. Some of the gauges I saw laying around his shop appeared to be quite rare. Add in the fact he collects most, if not all his money up front , panic turns into anger. The owner had a seriously ****y at***ude to boot. When I finally went to pick up the unfinished gauges, they had broken the Speedo lens in half. I asked for both halves so we could have a pattern. He said he had no idea where the left half was. He had the nerve to raise his voice to me and advise me that we were screwed if we took the gauges as he was the only person that could finish them. Fact is, we were screwed the moment the gauges were shipped to him.
