That is a really sweet hauler. I'd love to have one just like it to make into a car hauler.

I'm gonna wait a month or so to bring it home, During that time I plan on getting some tires on it, cleaning it out more, and of course several liberal doses of kroil to the hood hinges, but if something does happen I do know where there are a couple sets of hinges!

Nice truck! Don't let anybody screw you out of those wheels....

You way ahead of the old truck game to be able to go tubless and no have to replace wheels.

Car hauler??? they will haul all kinds of stuff the're just not real fast.

I have a 16' bed (flatbed Dump with removeable sideboards) on my 63 F600 works well for just about anything, cars, tractors, dirt, gravel, trash , firewood, lumber, you name it handiest damn thing I've ever had.

Your 56 if its the stock motor would be 272 ci

    Thats a real beauty:D

Wow what a great truck! I have an N-600 with a ramp bed. It makes a great hauler. I would rather have a dump bed like yours so I could use it for hauling more than just cars and tractors. But it does turn heads!<O:p</O:p

Your mom was right, it does pay to go to church. Super nice truck, make sure you get some photo's with the owner with you next in front of your truck!

Maybe you should ask her where their 32 roadster is parked!!!!!

    Congrats Bob

Well I went and Finished paying for the truck today. Got the tire size I need, and a buddy gave me a nice painted 4 bbl intake for it? Would an edelbrock 600 be to much? It's what I've got. I cold rebuild the holley 2110 or throw a freshly rebuil 2100 that I have on it but figured the 4 bbl might be better. what ya think?

Today I Replaced a broken hood hinge bolt ( Not broken by me It's been broke for a long time ) - then I carfully shut the hood, opened itagain and worked it a few times before leaving it shut.

Sorry for the tight angle. It's still in the barn and this is as far away as I can get!

Cool!! I own its smaller twin brother its a f-500- bought it on a local auction from the orginal owners son- $345 bucks later I drove it the 6 miles home at 60 mph. 43,000 miles 272 y-block and has the 2 speed electric rearend- I've since tore the sides off the box (which was shot anyway) and use it relentlessly on the farm for more then I ever thought I would. Was contemplating like you making a hauler out of it or putting the body on a 1/2 ton frame and finding a box- but I think I'll just keep it like it is for now.

  19. Mastergun, you should get a '57 or later Y block distributer if you change carbs, because of vacuum issues.

Nice find! Wish I had room to keep something like that. After you get it running, you're going to wonder how you got by without it.

Having worked on those old farm trucks for many years as a kid, Fords, Binders, REO's etc., I'd bet if you just clean that carb out and clean the points, it will fire right up. Oil it up a bit and turn it over by hand a few times of course. Putting a 4V on that little truck engine won't accomplish anything but make it eat more gas- you'll find it will run pretty sweet with that old pot in good shape

I had a 71 GMC 5500 series truck, originally came from a tractor dealership and had a hydraulic tilt frame, winch in the bed with a set of ramps stowed in the back under the bed. Recovered lots of trucks, cars, tractor and even a WWII Clark Air crawler. Insurance was $25/month, tags/taxes were $65/year. Great truck to go to the lumber yard! Sold it, when I should not have. Last week I sure needed it.

That's what I have planned. Picked up a flat top 4bbl with a kit yesterday for. The cost of the kit . If I remember those are around 400 cfm and they have vac***me secondarys so I thought it'd be about right.

I borrowed a set of front tires, bolted em on and threw a chain on it! And now it's home , gonna wash it and see how it looks. And I had suspissions that it would brake work.... they are confirmed but that goes with the territory on something last inspected in 87!

I have found that 2 valve's are stuck partially open. SO the trucks is gong into the barn for a engine removal. I was just gonna pull a head off and have it gone through, but then a buddy gave me a set of ecg-z heads so I will use them instead. I also came up with a matching 4 bbl intake and a set of rams horn manifolds ( traded for some spare parts - And I rebuilt a autolite 4100. - Still need to pick up a 57 or later dizzy. Even considered a rv cam but I don't know yet. Then The wife got me a set of chrome valve covers for my birthday, I already had some thunderbird special decals so i put them on ....

I've been polishing the paint job, it's looking pretty good, but will have some patina for sure, but I am not interested in painting it right now. ( to many other projests right now )
