I was hoping to get started on my 50 merc this summer. But it appears I will be spending it in sunny afghanistan. Does anyone have any builders they would recommend near Mankato, Mn so I can atleast get her in and get a start going on her? I HATE to leave her sitting in the barn one more year. The poor ole girl deserves a new outfit, and I would like to see her all dolled up when I get home..... Thanks
Its a little far but how about lake area hotrods in watertown sd. The owner randy is a real nice guy. I think he has a louver press also. I guess thats my 2 cents.
There was a shop in New Ulm near the river. It belonged to our old pastors bother in law. They should be in the phone book.
Moonlitrn, what type of work do you want done? Ch***is, metalwork, final paint, mechanical etc? I'm from New Ulm and know a few several guys in Mankato that do some nice work. Would be nice to know a budget too. Jalopy Jim I think you are thinking of Jim Zahn. He's not doing work anymore. Eric
Give us an idea of what you're looking to have done. I know a couple good shops closer to the Cities.
Randy Lauen? sp on the last name. If that is the same guy I would recomend him also. I used him a few times and he is a stand up guy. Not cheap but does dam nice work!!!
Thanks guys. As for the the work to be done, First off shes a 4 dr, being from MN and 60 yrs old, her rockers are gone, but I have a set of outers and will be getting a set of inners from Mike at Green MTN. And the lower section dog legs need replacing on the rear doors, but I have some replacements for them also.....Wanted to get her chopped, and to that end I have an extra set of doors from a donor 51, along with the roof for adding any extras there..SOOO, Basic plan was to get her chopped, lights tunneled and in primer. With a couple lines of louvering on the hood, Nothing gaudy. And then if cash flow allows, I have a spare frame with disks up front and a 4 link in rear that I would like to have finished up (suspension and brake wise) and Installed. As for paint, I havent really decided yet between cady pearl white, or the rat roaster green. But theres lotsa time to do that........again thanks for the suggestions, now, WHAT kinda damage to my christmas fund am I looking at?
Talk to Ron Baade at G-Force customs in Algona Iowa. they are only about 45 minutes south of Mankato. 4 years in business and doing great! If you watch the spike TV shows on sunday mornings you may have seen the week they were there with Cortnie (sp?) Hanson as a filler between shows. you can thank me later.... G-force customs 515-395-3672 or check out their web site www.gforcecustoms.net e-mail: gforcecustoms@live.com
eh, no spike tv overhere that I have seen, but then I dont get much time for tv- but I'll send em a email. thanks
It was mentioned above, but Kevin Whiteford in Waseca would be a real good choice for metal work. His work is outstanding, his rate is fair, and above all he is a sound, honest business person. Being a one man show he could be booked out a ways.
