Where did you buy them? They should be able to tell you for sure.

I think the rim might determine that. An old 16" rim has a bigger hole for the tube valve stem than a modern car. There may be over sized valve stems to fit that hole but I've never seen them. The only real ***** about tubes is you have to be careful putting them in and you can't plug a nail on the car. I've got a slow leak on my RF as we speak. PITA Too much power drifting through the dirt corners at the Jalopy Roundup.:D

TxRat...750-16 Lesters are made mostly for 30's n 40's collector cars which all had tube type rims. Some times a tube type tire will seal tubeless but is a risk. I would definitely put tubes in them. Lesters are sold by Universal Tire in Hershey PA. Their phone number is 1 800 233 3827.

    Best to you!

Corky, welcome to the HAMB. Thank you and your Dad for all the work you do to keep us rolling. I'll be picking up a pair of your Firestone slicks for my Lyndwood at Hershey. Have a great summer.

TxRat, I don't know what wheels you are using but you may also need rim flaps to protect the tubes. Be sure to note if the valve stem is straight in the center or offset. Mounting tires always happens on the hottest day of the year and it sure helps to have all the proper parts the first time around.

Tom Lester(RIP) reccommended good stromg tubes with all his tires. He was a great man who contributed so much to the collector car hobby and he is greatly missed.

I agree. He was one great machinist too. If anyone knew how to get more horsepower out of an early br*** car, it was Tom Lester. I was his compe***or while I was a young man growing up in the biz. I used to sleep in my old beat up International truck at Hershey down the aisle from Tom's pair of Peterbilts. In these last few years before he p***ed, he would call me...tell me to call him Uncle Tom and always told me he loved me. Pretty cool full circle.

WOW... I went on a 2000 mile br*** car tour with him a couple o' years before he went. His wife sent me his memorial obit.(more like a book) after the memorial. He did a damn lot of things in his lifetime but he was so humble and willing to help anyone who needed it. And yes his 'Big Bertha' 1908 Mercedes would p*** anything on the highway and won him his first great race! He was Uncle Tom to all his true friends.:)
