Can anyone hook me up with a template of the lower rear fortion of the front fenders for a 48-50 F1. I bought the patch panels from EMS, but as you know you have to modify everything you buy from them to make them work. Those patch panels did not wrap around enough. If anyone could help, it would be appreciated.
The issue is that the parts they are producing are not completely accurate. They are good to start with, modifications are always required.
Hey, Can you pattern off of the flange of the running board where it bolts to the fender? There isn't a great deal of shape in this area of the fender, and alittle hammer & dolly work should work well for your problem. FWIW, most of the patch/replacement panels , including OEM products, I've used over the last fourty years have required some ''tweeking''! As repoped tin goes, EMS generally puts out a good product

ALSO YOU SEEM TO IMPLY THAT YOU HAVE USED OUR PRODUCTS MANY TIME AND THEY HAVE FAILED TO MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THOSE PROJECTS AND THE CAUSE OF DISAPPOINTMENT? THE EMS GUY
I have a 1950 F1. Im heading to my shop in thwe morning and will take pictures of the patch panel im talking about. I also got patch panels for a 1950 ford coupe the needed to be modified. Like I said before, its a good start but theres quite a few things that need to be modified/tweeked.
I don't have any running boards at this time. If it was as easy as hammer and dollying, i would have posted this on here. Its more like cutting the inner edge off to add material so they meet the original fender.
Emsguy... If you send me an email address I will send you some pics. For some reason I can't post them on here.
Ok i was able to load the files this time. For my fenders, I had to trim off the inner edge because i need to add more material so it meets the original fender. Thats why i am asking to see if anyone has a template they can make to make sure i add enough material and get the correct angle of the end piece. On the roll pan on the 50 Ford Coupe, was my car before i sold it and now finishing it for the person who bought it. The trunk opening was too wide so we had to split it and bring it in. Then the flanges at the end had to be sliced and bent out so they could meet the quater panels. On this same 50 coupe i bought the following from EMS. Outter rockers. These needed to be cut at the front to alloe ther front fenders to sit right. Front and rear quater panels. These seem to work good. The complete trunk floor kit. Left , right and rear section. These also had to be worked to meet the stock floor. The toe board kit. This was ok since the car had no existing floor to tie into. As you can see I have spent a good amount of money on EMS products and like i said their products are a good starting point, but theres stuff you need to do to make them work.
intresting photo's. my comments are: ford f-1: you are off a lot ( 1-2 inches???) very puzzling?? but not wise to this type of repair off the vechicle, i would keep the fender on the car/truck set the repair panel in place so you can line it up with mating parts, final welding can done on the bench. would like to see photos of complete fender 1950 ford coupe: when looking at the trunk floor, it seems that the center of the main part of the trunk floor is not a ems part, i am posting a pic of our trunk floor just by counting the ribs i see it as a different floor (not ems), although it looks like the far left and right of the floor may be ours, did you do some custom work or trim off our panels just to use the far left and right panels, how does the trunk lid fit, photo of it ?????
This is an EMS trunk floor. The ribs you are counting are from the gas tank. The lid is going to be modified to fit the shape of the panel. Pie cutting it to bring it in to fit.
so then you are doing a custom tank in the 50 ford coupe? and custom trunk floor set up?? i see the spare tire well has been eliminated. then how can it be a ems trunk floor when i can see the gas tank???
The complete EMS floor was installed first. After lowering the car, the stock gas tank would no longer work. Therefore we modified the floor 2 allow for a mustang gas tank to be installed. Also the tire well has to be cut out of the EMS floor if u want to use it.
