I've posted this before, but this is what I started with to build my '29 Coupe.

I eventually found some better pieces for the worst parts of the body, but this is what I started with. Some of the pieces you can see in the above photo are still on the car today...cleaned up, straightened up, and welded up.

IMO, these recreations built from pieces are more desirable than one's that have lived their lives without falling apart.

Money, talent, & time. If it's too rough use it for parts.

If, you have the skills, time and your not afraid of hard work most vintage tin can be saved. I would say 80% are savers, 10% good for parts and 10% are more dust then metal.
I say hooray for the guys who take on these cars they are true hot rodders. :D

awesome thread, i say if its something you see worth doing then do it, if your skill level isnt as high as others than ask for input as how to,car guys in general like to help and these guys on the H.A.M.B. are some of the best. I ask you, where else can you go and tap into 10s of 1000s of hours of experience and get the answers you need without paying for it. great posts guys, im honored to be a member.

Here was my 32' sedan when I first got it. And after two complete door skins, two donor roof sections, and a cowl patch it ended up looking like this. Ha

My 32 five window was found behind my buddy's fence in the next town as a pile-o-parts on a pallet..34 was found above another buddy's body shop office in 4 pieces...cut apart to store easier..

My '62 Monterey had sat since '75 in NW Minnesota. The rear quarters, floor, rockers, wind shield and tailgate headers, and portions of the frame had all rotted away. The first picture doesn't even begin to show the extent of the corrosion.

Today. The body is back on the frame, new rockers, floor, windshield and tailgate headers, rear quarters, fuel tank, tailgate, etc.

Projects like these can be done, but they take a lot of time and dedication. It is inspiring to see I am not the only one stupid enough to take them on.
