Clean the whole carpet. Mix a spray bottle that consists of 1/4 cup of vinegar, 1 tsp. of Dawn dish detergent (not with bleach), and top the container off with hot water. Spray the entire carpet and then work the solution in with a hard bristled brush. Do this in a circular motion and work from one side of the car carpet to the other. Leave windows open to air out and dry.

Ditch the carpet, health risk just being handled, any residue in wash cycle could end up on clothes, etc. sometime must err on safety side.

If it's synthetic it's pretty tough to destroy. Try out some things on hidden areas.

Rodents carry more diseases than any nice girl on the street corner. Gasoline cleans all!!

I'd try to clean it as much as possible, then go talk to your local funeral director, and explain your issue. A friend of mine is a funeral director, and he's got some really kick-*** disinfectant/deodorizer, that smells great, but can cover up some nasty odors.

Go to a pet store and buy some "Natures Miracle" for pet stains. The rodent smell is from urine and this stuff uses enzymes to break down the urine.

I'd take the carpet out and throw away any padding or sound deadening beneath it. Clean the steel floor or repaint it. Steam clean the carpet and replace the padding, use a strong deoderizer and get a cat.
