A bud of mine has a '31 coupe and a set of '36 spoke wheels which he says are 4" wide....What's the biggesr size bias ply he can run on these rims, safely?
'36 wheels use the wide five pattern. It sounds like your talking about '35 wires which are 16x4 and will easily fit a 7.00 or 7.50-16.
i have actual 36's on mine...which are the wide 5 but i think the rim width is the same and i have 7.00's on it with no problems yet...havent actually had it on the road...but its seen a good bit of sliding in the dirt and things faired well zach
I've mounted both 7.00's and 7.50's on 4" rims and they work and look fine. Out of the 6.00's 7.00's and 7.50 firestones I think the 7.50 is actually the most narrow. At least the tread width is.
I'm not sure why we told you that - maybe we were referring to our radial tires? Some of the 750's came on four inch rims so if you're going with the Firestone or BFG bias tires you should be fine. I don't know 100 percent on the radials, but I'll be happy to find out for you. Patrick
I'm running 7:00-16 on some 4.5 wide solids. The tread has a crown and it doesn't make full contact with the road. I'm currently looking for some 5 or 6 inch wide 16's to get the tread to lie flat.
