hello everyone im new here and to forums so please be easy....

i posted in the intro portion of the site i felt that this is the place for questions.?
if not im very sorry and if you could point me to the right area ill take my question there i dont wanna step on any toes.

ok that out the way here is my question i just bought a 1951 chevy style/fleetline deluxe not sure which one yet tell i get it home and run the body numbers. this is my oldest car and kinda jumped into it so im still learning

ok so the car has what looks like a updated frame in it (based off what i have seen on here of frames from 51 this isnt the same) with power steering and the strangest rear setup i have ever seen it looks like the frame has irs trailing arms hooked to a straight axel rear end i have included a drawing of the frame (looks like my 9 year old drew it) so you guys can maybe see what im talking about and help me out on finding out what it is. i will have the car in my driveway the end of this month so i can get plenty of photos of it then this just get things started once agian sorry for the noobieness

Are there no springs, air bags, torsion bars, shocks, anything else??? A photo would be worth a lot. Two, one from the front & one from the back (of the rear end) would be better.

Truck trailing arms are way longer than that. My guess is midsize GM from the 70s-80s

The frame I provided a picture of is a 79 monte carlo, the stuff you showed looks like it's either the same thing, or a little earlier.

The ch***is for the 73-77 midsize GM cars is similar to the 78-87 midsize GM cars, but the earlier ones are bigger, later ones are downsized.

    here's that 79

The steering wheel looks from the early 70s, but the column is from 78 or later, you can tell by the bulge on the left side for the dimmer switch mechanism.

The rear brake backing plates might help figure it out too, do they attach with the normal 4 bolts or is there a large tab that sticks up, and holds the wheel cylinder? That setup was used on the 7.5" rear in the 78-87 midsize cars, and not much else.
