Austin Motel LSRU 2012

So what are the "rules" for landing a room at the coveted Austin Motel for this years LSRU?

The "rules" change like the wind, year to year.

One year, walk-in's snagged all the rooms while few callers got through on Jan 1st at 9 AM. The next, the owner "felt sorry for those lining up early because it was cold"and let the rooms go while callers were hosed. Last year a malfunctioning 1970's era phone system kept many from snagging a room, and those that did get through were allowed to book up to five rooms for their snoozin buds.

and the kicker, all the rooms are gone every year at 9:04:55.

I already have a place to stay this year but find it funny to see the feeding frenzy that takes place Jan 1st.

I think you have a better chance of hitting the Texas Lottery than scoring a room.

Well tried over 100 times on two phones and after 45 mins, no luck. They said they sold out around 9:30

ya, I called after the dust died down and told me same thing, 9:30ish as long as people are allowed to book multiple rooms, your chance of getting to stay there is less than 50 percent..and the San Jose is invitation only that weekend..I'll be there but up the street at the Embassy, they even said they had few rooms left! Sounds like rooms are going fast!!

 

It is at A.S.S. right now.... It'll be a while till it's back on the road. But the project is moving forward.

There is a block of rooms set aside at The Embassy Suites / Town Lake. You need to mention "Lone Star Roundup".

King Suite is $149 night.

They do have a few rooms left.

 

I'm staying at the Homestead Inn, not too far of a walk.

Maybe Ryan will start a new LSRU event page soon now huh?

We got through to Austin Motel right at 9am and booked our room. I believe they limited each caller to two rooms in an effort to give more people a chance at rooms. This will be our first year at Austin Motel, hope we don't regret leaving the Embassy as we enjoy that hotel and all it has to offer.

I couldn't get a room this morning either, got lucky last year.

 

We decided to stay at the lone star rv park in a cabin it's about 15 miles away and not bad for 69.00 a night and gated

 

We've stayed here before. I was wondering if anyone blocked any rooms left. Thanks.

Just stayed there this weekend---they are finishing up a complete re-model, very swanky! All the rooms will be completely new and renovated by Roundup.
