Obviously my expectations are way too high. Now that you guys have grounded me, I'm going to get some painting done. I've been waiting to build a shop, so been using that as my excuse that all my cars are of some kind of "ratrod" condition. Thanks, for the motivation..........again.
Ya , I remember those Electrolux vacuum cleaners. Not to paint with. My Dad used to take the dust attachment and use it to spank my ***! My 1st paint job took place in my parents garage in the dead of winter. It was cold as hell, but I wanted to paint my '58 Ford. My moms dryer vent exited into the garage, so while they were at work, I ran the hek out of her dryer all day long. I probably got it up to a blistering 50 degrees F. I used baby blue acrylic laquer. It orange peeled here and there, but I laid it on so thick that it rubbed out and actually was good enough that I was proud of it! I think when my Dad got his electric bill he went looking for the Electrolux!
I'm not white so I don't know if I qualify for this thread, but here is my Mexican American/poor college kid paint booth. Parents carport & a 5gallon craftsman compressor. Took it 1 panel at a time. Took me about a week or so due to trying not paint on windy days and stuff. I watered the ground around like crazy before i laid down the paint. Hey like they say desperate times call for desperate measures! I guess that's why I'm a "Mex-I-CAN" not a "Mex-I-CANT"!!!
That definitely counts, Chris...Especially love the carpet, that's a nice touch. I admire your patience too, I just don't have it in me to wait till conditions are right, I would have just not been able to stop once I started and would have done the whole thing at once, wound up with a nice "dust crumble" finish no doubt. Car looks really cool though.
