I started this past semester at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Does anybody know if there are any hot rod shops in that are? I've been curious. I've found one shop and a bunch of HAMBers in the area... -Cory
I moved up here 10 years ago and haven't seen a good local hot rod shop. There are some HAMB folks around but there really isn't much of a "scene" around here. Swapmeet in Tontitown in the summer. A few small local shows. Hell, if you find anything, let me know! There's a local car club but it's more for the old timers with street rods.
I've seen one place over by Baum Stadium in Fayetteville, but that's about it. It doesn't look like anything special. I've met a few guys who are on the HAMB and they all seemed like pretty cool guys...
I am usually in the shop 7 days a week. I always say that there are more chairs than tools in my shop. Visitors are welcome. John
Awesome! Thanks for the invite. Next time I come through the area I'll have to stop and check your stuff out.
Kenny Davis Hot Rods and Harleys is out by Avoca. He is one of the biggest names in the Hot Rod scene in the United States. Larry Taylor has a Rod repair shop in Elm Springs. Night Prowlers is just south of Centerton and back to the west. I am a member of the Rollin Relics based out of Springdale (we are the "old timers with the street rods") and have an annual Rod Run every year in Tontitown across the street from the Foothills of the Ozarks swap meet. Except this year we are having our 32nd Annual Rod Run at Agri-Park in Fayetteville on Aug 25th.
Awesome! Thanks for all the info. I figured there were some builders in the area, I just didn't know where since I'm new to the area. I din't realize that Kenny Davis's shop was so close. He builds some fine cars. Is Dan Griffin in your club? He has a 50 Olds.
cory27t, few hambers up here in benton county, Ive been thinking we need to have a hamb friendly get-together around here. Nice thing about NWA is hamb drags is a short drive every year, and straykat 500 is only a couple hours away. KKOA do a show in Eureka every year. havent had a chance to check out eureka because im usually on my family vacation that time every year. Tonitown swap is pretty good every year too.
Yea we need to. I'll be going to the Starbird show in Tulsa next month. The Eureka show wasn't great. There were only about 30 cars this past year. It would be a nice cruise though. And yes, NWA is the perfect spot. Close to Joplin, KC, Tulsa, its great.
Cool, well were heading out to the drags and SK500 this year, more than welcome to join our convoy if you plan on going this year. if your ever in Benton county hit me up ad come check out the garage. I always have time to hang with a fellow hamber!
Have you been to Darryl Starbirds museum in Bernice Ok? Closed for winter, but opens March 1, I think.
Awesome. I appreciative. I'll be at the drags for sure, and more than likely the 500. I have a few friends going over, so I have no reason not too. Where are you at in benton county? On a day I have nothing to do, I'll have to come check stuff out.
No I haven't been yet. My parents went without me, sadly, and I didn't get to go. I'm planning on going over there whenever they open up.
north of the promanade in Rogers right off 540, I work for the Fire dept in Springdale so im there every 3rd day, and part time at a local hot rod shop at nights and weekends. hit me up during the weekdays. We can go check out some of the local junk yards.
No, My name is Adam, Floyd is a good friend of mine, He drives the 55 wagon. we were at the drags together. I was in the shoebox ford. Sold the ford and got a 63 pontiac now.
Next month a friend of mine and I will host a hot rod breakfast here at the Gearhead Cafe. Just a Saturday morning get together for all the hot rod people in the area. If the weather is good we drive our hot rods and if not we show up in our dailly drivers. Nothing special just a meeting place to see a lot of the people we do not cross paths with during the winter. It will be a mix of hot rods, street rods and drag racers. This is the 4th year I believe. I will pick a date in a week or so. Everyone is welcome. John
Ok. I was close haha. I probably met you too then. WZ JUNK- That sounds like a cool event. If I'm free, I may come if that's cool
Dan is not in our club but he did come to our Annual Christmas dinner in December. There is also an 1\8 mile drag strip in Sallisaw, OK that is really nice. Where are you originally from?
Ok. I met Dan a couple months ago. Nive guy. I'm originally from California, then moved to Mtn Home 5 yrs ago. Now I'm at U of A for college.
Hey Dan. Hooley's record was 249.9 MPH but he had an exit speed of 253 MPH. Come to breakfast. Glad you are finally online. John
