So a while back my little brother and I came acrossed an old model a truck on an old homestead. Problem was no one around to ask about it. Well after some research at the register of deeds office I figured out who owned it. I got ahold of them the end of last week and struck a deal.

So now comes the hard part, the truck is about a 1/4 of a mile off the road and there is no way to get into where it is due to snow and mud. And as a bonus its uphill back to the road. So I put on my little thinking cap and came up with an idea. SLED DOGS!

Now this would have been a great idea except I dont have any sled dogs. So I moved to the next best option, SLED BROTHER!

So we got all the parts removed we wanted to take that day. We carried all the smaller stuff to my truck on the road. Then we tackled the cab. We were sure suprised at the weight of the bare cab. Was a big chore for two guys to pull off the truck frame. But we managed and got it sat on the Chrysler sled I had brought along. We hooked some tow straps to the hood and tried to pull it out. FAIL! The cab was too long and was digging in on the back side. So we changed our plan of attack and decided Davey would pull both straps and I would push. Eureka!! We got it moving. It took two short breaks but we got it pulled to the truck. Two out of breath guys and one smashed finger later she was loaded up and off we went. We still plan to go back and pull a few more things off of the truck. Are the motors in these any different than a normal Model A?

Damn! you just gotta love this hobby(?)! Great job!
Now, real men would've waited till the snow was at least a foot deep.

There were multiple drifts that were that deep and more. Honestly the snow portions weren't nearly as bad as the few spot where the snow had melted and it was mud/gr***/tree branches. It got really hard to pull there. But it was completely worth it.

Why not wait until spring and use a trailer or towtruck?

Make sure you get the radiator and grille shell. It looks like it has the 4-row radiator. The restorers will pay good $$$ for those. It looks to be a 1931 cab with the metal top...nice find.

Motor's are basically the same. The serial number on this one should start with an AA which would designate that it is for the truck. If the number on the motor and frame match you may find someone who is into big trucks willing to buy it from you even without the cab. Look under the running board splash apron where the cowl was sitting and you will find the number. Hope it matches the engine number.

That woulda just took all the fun out of it!! hahaha!! Actually the reason is that the property is covered in debris and there is a tree row all the way around it, so you couldn't get in without running the risk of cutting a tire.....and i'm not sure I could have pulled a truck/trailer with a flat out of there the same way!;)

It was totally worth all the work, because now i can show people that pic and tell the story. Sometimes the fun is getting there, right?

Good job! My son and I sometimes go to a salvage yard where all you pay is $20.00 for all you can carry. We will ****** a big hood off of something in a heartbeat, load it up and drag it out.

We're probably leaving the chasis. Maybe pull it out in the spring. We were more interested in sheet metal.

We are all proud of you. Knowing the luck of karma,if you had waited until spring it would be mysteriously gone.

Anyone own a SNOWMOBILE? That would have made it easier, and added another element of fun. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I'm looking forward to what you guys do with that old tin. Picked a hell of a time to go get it, it made it that much more memorable.

There isn't much to brag about when you drag a truck out of a field with a tow truck on a sunny day in July lol. Good luck guys!
