Good news... bad news... good news, my Fenton Y-block headers cleaned up real nice... bad news, I won't be using them on this project after all

If you have following this build... the exhaust has been my biggest dilemma... a) the most historically acurate would use the hole in the body that held the exhaust strap which would mean the exhaust would exit from the exhaust ports and dump into a single tube angling up just a few inches below the top of the body which would be loud and provide a good chance of someone getting burnt... b) use the Fenton's and drop out trough the belly pan into a tube extending along the pan under the nerf bars... c) exit the hood with individual pipes dropping down and flowing into a single tube along the frame and exiting under the side kick bars... Now "C" would have it hands down in the style department and follow current trends and look great... traditional & era correct - don't think so... so a variation of "B" is in the design stage... Love the Navarro roadster... but I want a liitle more eye-candy without over doing it... looking to drop the individual ports down (hidden by the hood) and exit just above the frame into a single 36 torque tube exiting under the side kick bars... kinda having the Navarro look with just a little more exhaust showing

Interesting how are going to hang them - Ridged or loop for movement? I think it will look dated
    for the time's also.

I planning on a plate on the frame rail like an exhaust flange the individual pipes would drop off into the 36 Ford torque tube and follow the rails below the kick bars with everything mounted solid and all you would see would be a small opening along the lower backside of the hood... now, behind the hood - individual tubes would route down to the opposide side of the plate with a flex connector in between... with the hood open you would see the individual pipes drop and incorrectly think they exited straight out the hood

As you can see in the above picture there will be a lot hidden since the new hood is a lot higher than the half panels shown

Here is another angle with the earlier half hood side... new hood sides come up just below the front valve cover bolt and if I remember right -just above the bottom of the upper radiator tank

Sound thought and planing for sure - Tell you something that may look kinda well  - Gun Bluing on the ex pipes and tube from there the heat would make its on color. Your build all the way here, un asked for input - I think to much :D

I really appreciate the thought you're putting into the exhaust. Your car is already a show-stopper as it is but you just find ways to improve upon it somehow.

I'm still trying to picture the exhaust from how you describe it. I think I kind of get it.. Maybe a drawing would help?

I added the hood slot... new hood sides haven't been louvered yet so placement will be better than my copy paste of the half hood louvers...

Opinions welcomed! period correct? or keep it simple with only one exhaust exit?

Personally, I don't like the idea of individual tubes coming through the sides.. It's just not my personal taste but I'm pretty sure it had been done in the '50's and '60's. I don't have any photographical evidence though. Maybe someone on here does and will post it up.

But if you like it, by all means, go for it. You don't need to please anyone but yourself. :)

My problem with individual tubes is that without dropping down behind the hood they would be long... definatly 60's not late 40's... the only thing newer than 48 on my car is the motor... I like the 40's look but 57 had better motors in my opinion... my 33 is built the same way - unless you open the hood its 40's... this photo had me thinking low & out would be fine... I hoping for photo responses of something better and/or opinions of folks that knew these cars when the ran... if I'm off base for the period - I just won't do it... ya pick an era and ya stick with it... if I add today's enfluence or personal taste then it may not be correct... and I've stayed true to the race style when I know it would be a better street car if I didn't... but, my priority is having a vintage correct car

This is an incredible build and I'm loving everything about it!!! The Non Quick change is my favorite part though. I've been looking for one for 3 years. Very cool piece.

  16. It would be neat to keep the "hinges" and make both sides of the windshield adjustable!

The windshied is finally taking shape... dealing with all the angles has proved interesting... rechecking center point to each adjustment along the way

It always amazes me how the evolution of mock-up to fabrication is a blend of practical application... oh, would look better if we did this... it looks good from this angle but not from another... any opinions of the shape change?

I though this was an interesting way to adjust the post angles... after th position was finalized it was tacked it and temporary tagbs removed

Here is a side by side comparison

From the photo research I've done the higher center and lower side seemed more era correct... so, thats how it is being built

This photo illustrates the modified rake and how low the windscreen will be compared to stock

Its changed a lot from the initial design... simple and using original parts which would have been what they did in the day

Still trying to determine the final look... even if I had PhotoShop it would be hard to make plywood look like glass... but this is kinda where its going

    Opinions welcome

    Hello,
When mocking up glass, just to see what it looks like I use 1/16" clear styrene sheet, often available from hardware and model shops,
It looks like glass, cuts with scissors and is relatively cheap.
    Best Regards
    Rick

I'll be bringing my 27 body to Detroit Autorama... the exStreamliner will be a kid friendly interactive display that will allow the future rodders or young at heart to sit in an old jalopy... steer and act like they are going 150 miles an hour on the salt while HAMBing it up for a photo opportunity... 4x6 prints will be made while you wait...

This will give them a break from being behind the ropes and hopefully get them excited about a future in hot rodding...

  29. I don't know if you saw the windscreen I did on my old T. Posts are the same as you did, inside "boxed" and then aluminum channel riveted, bonded to the inside for the glass to glue in. At the bottom I used a piece of "T" ws rubber to seal it to the cowl. Looks awesome, I have not read this thread in a while. NICE.
