I hope I posted this in the right forum. I need help on where to purchase a centerlink, inner & Outer Tie Rods, Pitman arm & Idler arm for my 1969 Olds 98. Thanks in advance for all the help.
Wicked Riv, As has been stated a '69 is a little new for our taste. But it is still a car so I will shoot you in a direction that may help you out. Summit Racing peddles Moog parts and they have an online catalog. If you don't have a NAPA dealer near you give Summit a shot. If you don't find it online call their help line (you can find the number) they can get you headed in the right direction. Good luck. Do us all a favor including yourself. When you find your pieces which you will please don't post pics of the Riv as your project. It will only start a flame fest and none of us including you needs the drama.
You caught me in a good mood or I might have just said "JFGI". The following represents just some usual, easy places to look whether the vehicle is HAMBable or not (though of course the odds of a hit get better as the vehicle gets newer.) Rockauto lists Moog part #s for the inner (ES723) and outer (ES314RL which for some reason strikes me as a super-common part #) tie rod ends, so those ought not be hard to find, if you don't want to order from them (they can be good but watch the shipping charges, they're almost random sometimes) google the part #s and check the usual suspects (local NAPA, Amazon yes Amazon, Summit, etc.) Rare Parts lists the idler (20199) and centerlink (25790) as well as the tie-rod ends. Think they sell thru Summit, etc. now, so you might save a few bucks off their direct prices. Pitman arm is not a wear part, has no bushings/joints, try car-part.com to find a used one (and all the possible cross-references to other applications) though many yards might not want to pull the arm, they want to sell you the entire steering box (of course if it's cheap enough...) Outfits that collect and sell old inventory e.g. Kanter might have the stuff as well. And you might get lucky on eBay, I've found enough '63-64 manual-steering Galaxie pitmans (sane prices, even, if you look long enough) to keep me supplied for a lifetime. I know nothing about parts suppliers specific to big GM of that era.
Thanks for responses, I knew i would get some answers and no I wont post the car on here. I tried my Olds sites and have yet to get any info. Knew I wouyld some quick responses here. The riviera is my primary car. The olds is my other plaything and is a He****! Again Thanks everyone for the sources... no flames!
I got no problem helping someone out. I like Rock Auto too, great fast service and the $$ is almost always right. Locally, most places like NAPA or Car Quest parts houses should be able to get you anything for that car within a few days. Bob
Like JEM stated Rare Parts for the parts you can't find. But hold on to to your wallet, the're proud of em !! The're reman parts, priced a drag link on 65 Wildcat several years ago and Rare Parts list was in the 450.00 range, and a steep core charge, could buy it through Advanced it was about 100.00 less. Sold the Buick before it needed it !!!! Good luck !!!
