Dueling deuces riding the curbs!!!

I think the Ala Kart is also in that movie, in some garage scenes.

 

those cars were inches away from the light and telephone poles... one mistake and those dropped axles whould've been "dropped" towards the rear!

The scenery was pretty neat, American cars running on American gas.....

 

This was the first of many movies that my roadster was in. It was filmed on the streets of Hollywood with the first "run" alongside the studios sound stages. The director came up with this stupid idea as he wanted something more than just a standard drag race. Stunt drivers did all the driving on the curbs which was pretty good, considering the driver of my car could not see the curb line and missed all the poles, etc. Some driving! If I recall correctly, this was all shot in one "take."

Ripping down the street was fun and I got a couple of new hub caps (and money) for the movie. Yes, you can see how that good old '32 suspension can work. While these were cl*** "B" movies I believe they helped get the hot rod/street rod movement going.

Yes, mine had a 283 Chevy. Don't recall the other one.
