  2. You're going to have to check with your local DMV as it could be, and probably is, different in every state. Also take a look at the SEMA website. I think they now have a state by state breakdown for regulations, registrations, inspections, etc. Or post this on the main discussion forum instead of in this questions and suggestions section.

get in set down and measure the top of your head.... make sure you won't be driving bent over.... would be dumb to just chop it the most you can and then get in and figure out you can't see and it's not comfortable!

Look up the state regulations for your state under DMV website.

Connecticut regulation requires "Windshield glass must be a minimum height of 7 inches clear glass (no obstructions - gasket or housing) for roadsters and 8 inches for closed autos."

Alabama don't care if you cut it till you only got a 1" windshield. Be careful where you park though, or somebody might fill up the front seat with mail.

Not only your head but put something across the windshield to cover the top up at the height "you think you want" to chop it to and drive the car around the block with the top of it blanked out.

My truck is chopped 4 inches and the seat is lower than stock and I still have to duck a bit to look at traffic lights. Plus a lot of cars and trucks look a hell of a lot better chopped about half of what the owner thought he wanted in the first place. It isn't all about the "my top is chopped more than yours I'M cooler". It's about getting the best lines and flow when you do the chop.

my shoebox had about 10" of glass.i never had a problem with being able to see and the cops never gave me any trouble.all depends on how tall you are and how you sit.look at cars of the same year and make as yours & pick a chop you like.

a couple of points first a dollar bill is 6 inches, yep a handy ruler when you don't have a real one. second, my coupe, channeled, and A sedan stock height w/visor both have traffic signal finders, makes driving a lot easier!
