Hello everyone- Just kind of a weird question, but this is directed to all the model A guys and gals out there- With a chopped top did you take the car to the gl*** shop and have it cut to fit, or did you make templates and take it to them to cut so you could install yourself? What was the ball park it cost? This is something I have wondered for a while which way to go. Thanks in advanced

Not sure how much yet. In the past I made templates out of 1/4 inch plywood and brought them to the gl*** co.
    I think I paid $55.00 for each. For a 2 piece windshield on a '46 ford pickup.
    Your welcome.

I'd just do templates man... Whatever you do... Don't do what we did with the Merc! You don't have that kind if budget!!!

If you did what I did, it can work. If you want the gl*** to function, you can take the window length opening size with window run channel in, and shorten length by about 3/16" and it should work. Double check at the top and bottom to make sure the length is consistent. Adjust accordingly.
I had the gl*** shop cut 1/4" tinted laminate for my windshield and all other gl*** locations.
I have a 29 Tudor side gl*** that I cracked that measures 30 5/8" in length and remember it is a touch long. Also don't depend on both sides of the car to be of the exact same length and fit. How would I know?

I just finished making templates for my chopped coupe. My local gl*** guy quoted me for the light tinted green gl***, $22 per square foot, and $22 per linear foot where it needs polished, ie the top of the roll up door gl***. That included him setting the windshield in the frame and mounting door gl*** to the bottom channel.

Replacement gl*** for a Model A coupe is around $400-$450 if ordered from one of the suppliers, plus another $100 for shipping as its fragile and very heavy. Usually having it done locally is around the same cost, less shipping, but if theres a problerm it can be taken care of locally. Gl*** is one of the things guys don't think about when considering the cost of building a car, but its a real eye opener when it comes time .

My estimate was around $100 for windshield, $60 foe each door gl***, another $40 for quarter windows and about $75 for the rear gl***. Good Luck
