my '57 caddy was bought with no motor and it had the 365. I bought a '71 500 cad motor to put in it. 365 has a rear oil sump and 500 has a front. Has anyone any experience swapping these motors? Will I have steering linkage or cross member issues with the front sump?

    Thanks for any help!

the front sump oil pan wont fit .you have to get a rear sump pan and pickup. and thats just the begining. 425 motor mounts work best. i made my own headers it gets tight at the steering colum and the upper controle arm on p*** side. im still working on the oil pump and filter the 500 sits rite on the crossmember.bottom line it can be done its just not easy.

You can put a remote adapter on and hose the filter to a better location, that just cleared the cross member on a 47 Cad, then put the filter under the front splash pan all was good.

I would suggest going to donshotrodpage.net. Click on "projects", then on "1957 Cad". Lots of good info on 500 Cad in a "57 Cad.

WOW, bob3757, that site is awesome for me. He's doing much of the same mods I have planned. Great site info! Thanks again.
